338 Federal

I kinda was wondering the same thing, I have only read a little about this round. I also think the two new ruger rounds could have some promise. I will be looking into these and post what I find

No experience with a 338 Federal, but a 180gr bullet at 2700fps could work very well... (ie. 30-06). If I found a Kimber MT in the 338 cheap enough I'd be hard pressed not to get one.

Since I already took the plunge and had my .358 Win put together before this round existed, I have no real interest in it. I like a 225 gr Partition at 2550 fps. I can exceed 2700 fps with a 200 gr bullet.

I'm thinking a 200-210 gr would spoil a bears day in very short order.
No doubt!! I can't but think that a 200gr Ballistic Tip would be perfect critter getter in the Fed. Beings that the chambering isn't the most popular, if I found a Kimber MT chambered for the Fed at a good price I'd be hard press to not try it. A 180gr Accubond or 185gr TSX at near 2700fps would make for a good deer getter in a 6# rifle.
