Lilbiggun, I loaded some for a friend, for his 30-30 Winchester Trapper, and due to all the razzing he took upon arrival at deer camp,(the trapper along with his Savage model 11 in .308) he used the Trapper to take a 150 class B&C Buck in Alberta. This buck had a exit wound that was golf ball in size and went 50 yds after being shot.
Loaded with W748, and Magnum primer, Rem case. and crimped with a Lee Factory Crimp die, these bullets make a 30-30 lever gun a serious whitetail weapon.
Would not be my first choice if I could shoot over 125 yards though.
The Spire Point X bullet in 140 grain is my first choice in a single shot 30-30 NEF that my wife uses for whitetails, and this combines great performance with low recoil, and 1/2 to 3/4" groups.
