Minnesota's Proposed "Assault Weapon" Bans (2024)

I would also say partnering with minorities and immigrants who often don't live in the best of neighborhoods. The prospect of self defense is real to them and they know the cops won't always be there.

    Ankle Replacement Surgery

Just before Pheasant hunting started this year I injured an ankle. I did not have it checked at the time and it did improve in a few days. However walking on uneven ground was uncomfortable. I went to have it checked recently and it is bone-on-bone and a bone spur in there. For now they got me...

Waterfowl Hunter Shot - Apparent Accident. Iowa.

I have heard of it and actually witnessed it once. Semi-auto or pump gets set down loaded with the safety on with the action up- how you naturally set down. The dog steps on the safety/ trigger and the gun goes off.

"Conservation license required to access most state lands" Montana, state lands permit.

The way I interperet the stuff I have seen online about this is that a person would need this license just stop at one of these state places. Say I were traveling through the state and stopped at a fishing access site just take a break, see the river up close, and let the dog do here thing...

Deer Hunting: Is the .350 Legend bound to be the "thirty aught six" for the straight-wall-cartridge eastern states?

Is it still going to be with the 400 Legend that was recently announced? Will the 350 Legend become the 243 of the Strait-Wall world - good for youth and female hunters? I definitely thought there was room for a compromise in between the 350 and 450.

Deer Hunting: Is the .350 Legend bound to be the "thirty aught six" for the straight-wall-cartridge eastern states?

If you can use a 35 Whalen or a 375 H&H there is no reason a person shouldn’t be able to use a regular deer caliber. Insanity in legislating.

    CWD - Seeing is Believing

A quote from Dr Michael Osterholm with the U of MN center for infectious disease. They have been researching this for some time.

    CWD - Seeing is Believing

In ND the Game and Fish put out a video on how to clean a deer with the gutless method. You can also now just take a picture of the deer after it has been tagged and a close-up of the tag. Everything but the meat and the ear or antler that the tag is on can stay where the animal fell.

MN CROSSBOW NOW LEGAL FOR ALL DURING ARCHERY SEASONS

In my area it seems that a lot of people are now targeting big bucks and stopped killing does. Even with the early season and the extra tags, the number of deer harvested has basically remained the same.

Montana Representative Rosendale at it again

We have gotten to the point that if the 2024 election goes a certain way, having Ammon Bundy as Secretary of the Interior isn't out of the question.

Montana Representative Rosendale at it again

At one time this would have been a toxic position to take and something that we would not have too much concern over actually happening. It feels different now than just a few years ago. Bills are being proposed passed around the country that would have been unthinkable up till now.

Who regularly hunts deer with a shotgun?

I have hunted a slug zone in MN since the mid eighties. I also hunt a couple of small public areas where no centerfire rifles are allowed here in ND. I have been through several different guns/scopes through the years. I also hunted with a muzzleloader for a few years. It has been mostly...

Bills to allow crossbows during archery season.

Would you have a problem with changing the law to allow straight-wall centerfire under a certain length? They have roughly the same range as modern slug guns and muzzleloaders. That is what a lot of states have done.

    First 48

I have watched that show quite a bit as well. One thing I have noticed is how these guilty people try to climb into their own shirt or jacket when they are being questioned. They take their arms out of their sleeves and stick them inside their shirt.

Deer Hunting: Is the .350 Legend bound to be the "thirty aught six" for the straight-wall-cartridge eastern states?

I have done a little reading on this caliber kind of hoping that MN would finally update their slug regulations. Most of what I read was on on "Michigan Sportmens Forum". I found it interesting reading. When they passed a straight wall law in part of Michigan that was a slug zone it seems a...

Bills to allow crossbows during archery season.

One thing that desperately needs reform, or even elimination, is the slug zone. We will see if they do anything this year. A lot of other states have allowed straight-wall rifles in their zones. In MN you can use a 300 Blackout "pistol" with a 20 round magazine but, you can't use a bolt...
