The Ball and Testosterone remover (The man bun gun)

Why. Why on earth would anyone want a projectile, from a gun to hunt lower 48 game, to become smaller and possibly less than perfect shot placement cartridge? We have the 30’06 and .308 parent case cartriges, and they + derivatives over .277 caliber deliver devastating results when placed in...

Kids trip to Utah, day 1

A 16” cutt and a 16” bow released by the little guy (not pictured), and 12” kept. He had the hot hand. The girl got the big one of the morning, a 17” bow (kept). Some others released, but nice little dinner on tap. Getting them warmed up for the next 3 days.

Has anyone read Canada bill C-21?

I apologize if there is a thread elsewhere, but I did search and could not find. Anywho, has anyone read Canada bill c-21, specifically the December amendment? 300 pages of banned guns proposed. Pretty disturbing. I looked through the whole list, and I’d suspect many of our Canadian cousins...

Pulled the trigger on a Kodiak flexbow 8x9 deluxe

After another season of crawling and kneeling into my current tent set up, and at 53 years old and recognizing that won’t be getting any easier, I said enough is enough. The other post about a Kodiak tent did not hurt either. I‘ve like my current tent set up, but kneeling and crawling into a...

    NW Co 3rd season

Folks, just giving a PSA to those hunting 3rd season in NW Co. Trails are a serious mess with more frozen moisture coming before your opener. Can’t say I’ve ever seen more snow or cold here in the 2nd season. DIY guys, be prepared if you are headed for NW Co. High country is a mess, and low...

The CO leftover list got me to bite.

So I got my 2nd choice deer tag (doe) in unit 11 2nd rifle, not even close to the tag I want, but all good to get some decent meat and get my yearly CO hunting/fishing vacation in too. Can't complain with 0 preference points after burning them last year. I mainly focus on naps and fishing...

May that Flag fly for all-happy 4th

Thank and pray for our fallen brothers, may our American Flag be revered as much as it was a couple hundred years ago. How lucky are we to talk hunting and various guns, chamberings. Some folks outside the US have much larger concerns. Freedom does not just ring, it’s what everyone wants.

Getting old school, new tech-New CVA Scout 35 Whelen

Had some cc points burning a hole in my pocket, and my interests are long rooted in the 30’06 case. The 35 Whelen has always intrigued me as well as single shot rifles. Modern rifles are truly magnificent now, as are optics. They are far better machined than those of 30 years ago or more. So...

"Modern" hunting rifles, hunts with Dad, and today's realities

Yesterday I was mounting a new scope on a rifle, and being that is was Father's day, I could not help think how different (sometimes the same) rifles, hunts, and expectations are from the early 80's to today. I remember being given my first deer gun in 1982, (a 2nd, or 3rd hand old bolt action...

New to Hunt Talk, not to Hunting

New guy here, from CA. I rifle hunt CA, UT, and CO. Been hunting CO 4 decades now, all Western slope hunt units with lots of experience in 53, 11, 22, 12, 23, 24, 63, 421. Mostly deer, but some elk. I'm pretty hung up on the Meeker area these days. Have some experience in UT-Panguitch unit...
