I’m confident out to 300, but I’m not sure about a .243 at that distance… my daughter shot an antelope at 330 but it was a doe.

I’ve been looking at the OTC tags… have you hunted them before? Of so what caliber rifle would you suggest… .270, 7-08, .243?

Black bear question

The only way that you can keep your child "safe" is to not let them wander around with you in the woods, but then you will most likely have other problems. Sounds like you did a good job letting her see first hand what to do... Keep calm and shout "Hey bear"
