I drew an archery hunt in december at the lower rio grande valley NWR, cant remember the name of the unit at the moment. Gonna target nilgai. I live in south Texas so will hopefully be able to make it for a few scouting trips. Also have an archery hunt in October on a NWR on the coast.
Welcome to HuntTalk! You should look into the Texas Youth Hunting Program for your son. They provide a lot of really neat hunting opportunities for youth and they usually only charge a 100 dollar fee per hunt to cover food costs and other costs. If your son still has a few years ahead of him...
anyone gotten their tags in the mail yet? Last year my tag came in June 1st. Hopefully they come in sooner than that this year because I'm moving soon and my tag is set to deliver to my current address. Anyone know what I can do about that?
I have my 10x42 handhelds of course and then I have 15x56 zeiss conquest for tripod glass, is that enough or should I consider buying a spotter? I see gohunt says that "Spotting scope on a tripod is helpful, especially from the tops of the dunes that offer a good vantage point" in this unit
Well I only put in for archery antelope and late archery deer this year as it is the only season dates that fit into my schedule as a college student. I expected all red because they all had steep odds but when I was checking my email this morning my heart sank when I saw an email from NM that...
Finished "No Country For Old Men" this evening and WOW what a great story. Definitely going to revisit this book in the future to try and get more meaning out of it. I wish I would have read it before watching the film
Does anybody know of any books, non-fiction or fiction, that are based in south Texas or any of the regions around it? I'm reading No Country for Old Men by Cormac Mccarthy right now and it is pretty good. It's based in west and south Texas.
Javelina in Arizona or New Mexico or Texas. Can be combined with quail and rabbit hunting. It can be combined with a hog hunt as well if you're in Texas.
Just put in my donation, haha. Will only be putting in for archery antelope and late archery deer as it's the only out of state hunting I possibly can fit into my schedule as a college student.
I think playing the wind is the best scent control but I dont also dont see how it would hurt a hunt to simply wash clothes in scent free detergent and store them in a different bag.
Im making this thread in the forum for deer hunting, but Im really talking to all big game hunters. I'm relatively new to the hunting world, been hunting for going on three years now, and I dont have my "system" figured out yet and I recently was talking to someone I know that has been a hunter...
