    F?(K you in particular

The same type of someone who would gun down lots of people (but too scared of dying yet). I bet this individual(s) also enjoys meth, lots of cheap booze and domestic abuse. Evil

    Diesel heaters.

In my experience if I so much look at anything diesel I will be smelling diesel everywhere for the next 24 hours. The exhaust also seems to stick. Personally a good time in the outdoors would be spoiled for me if I was constantly smelling diesel fuel or diesel exhaust.

    Youth shotgun?

I started with a single shot 410 at age 7 then move up to a o/u ruger 20ga when I was 9. Hunted everything up to and including geese with that .20 until I bought my own 870 12ga at 15yo. Moved up to a semi auto 12ga at 17,18yo. I totally agree that the third shot is almost always waisted by an...

    Youth shotgun?

28ga is a sweet shell. I have a rem 11-48 in a 28ga that I can’t miss with. For some reason it knocks down birds way farther than you would think it should

    Youth shotgun?

I think the .20ga is the way to go

    Hopeful Elk hunter

Sounds like a better plan. I don’t blame you for being disappointed in your outfitter on that last hunt. Hiking fitness is pretty damn paramount for a quality elk hunt. It was probably the main reason your outfitter was pushing the long range rifles-because 75% or more of their hunters can’t...

    Hopeful Elk hunter

I’d say if money is no option as you say, then definitely hire an outfitter to at least pack a drop camp for you and be available to pack your elk out-especially given that it sounds like you’re wanting to hunt bow season when temperatures will mean you need to get the meat out asap. There is no...

SF118 Action alert big bucks for big bucks take 2

Hey Buzz, that’s really cool that you ‘have the disposable income to purchase’ a landowner bull tag in a trophy unit! That’s sorta badass!!🥇🤑👎

    East Crazy Mountain Land Exchange

Its awful. Exactly what I thought would happen. The filthy rich elites always get what they want. Disgusting. I predict in my lifetime the Department of the Interior and forest circus will sell out to the trillionaires and my grandkids will be servants. Steve Daines, claiming to be a good...

    What the hell went wrong?

I’ve done that before. You hit the processenn by Ive done that before. Your bullet hit the posterior spinous process, above the spine -the part of the vertebrae that projects upward. The first time I accidentally did this was when I was a kid and could hunt everyday but not yet afford a range...

    Tracked Atv

I don’t hunt there anymore because of the atv’s. The ATV’ers own that mountain range. Saw egregious wildlife violations made possible by atv’s every day I was afield. Designated FS trails are more of a suggestion to the ATV users there. No law enforcement. Opening week sounds and smells like a...

    Tracked Atv

I don’t own a ATV just some LOWA sheep hunter boots (for the hunt) and some good horses (for the retrieval) but I have hunted amongst the ATV crowd in the Gravelly’s quite a bit. My observations of the tracks vs tires on ATV’s while hunting are that tracks will significantly reduce the speed at...

    Never Ending Challenge of Access

I have had surprisingly great hunting on Block management land. The BMA properties that I’ve hunted have been worth whatever fwp is paying, maybe more. I’m very grateful for this program.

    Never Ending Challenge of Access

With that said I had another highly enjoyable MT hunting season. I saw some humongous bulls, plenty of legal bulls and many cows. I saw a couple of very big mule deer bucks, tons of little forky mule deer and a massive whitetail Buck. My hunting experience on MT BMA’s was high quality and has...

    Never Ending Challenge of Access

I agree that ‘hunters’ with extremely poor judgement are to blame based my many first hand observations this fall of blatant wildlife violations, downright awful etiquette and disregard for rules regarding land access. It sucks to watch people do things that are very illegal and wrong, knowing...

    Montana Mountain Goat

I shot mine on 10/6. He and the other 4 billies he was with weren’t rutting yet. I also expected my goat to have an odor about him especially when I saw those big glands behind his horns and his big ol nutsack…but he was the most odorless big game animal I’ve ever killed. Smelled like granite. I...

    Montana Mountain Goat

I had a perfect goat hunt in 2022. It was awesome. I won’t apply for a tag again though mainly because the meat was so terrible. I killed a 6yo Billy that was in perfect, prime health. The carcass was beautiful. Every time I’ve ever killed a healthy 6yo Buck or bull the meat has been incredible...

    Horseback hunting - gear packing

My thoughts exactly. The bottleneck is the availability and quality of your horseshoer. A horse shoer who does high quality work and is readily available is a unicorn. There are very few horseshoers (less than 5%) who I would trust to properly sharp shoe my horses. The ones that I would trust...

    Horseback hunting - gear packing

If you have a good footed, hardy horse then go for it. Especially if your horses are mostly just being used for 1 day of game retrieval not day after day of riding to hunting spots. With this year’s weather, having horses shod with traction and snow pads has been unnecessary…but hopefully it’ll...

    Horseback hunting - gear packing

Also, my horses are all shod with borium or studs and snow pads for hunting season. Even on an Indian summer day you will often have to ride steep, frozen solid icey trails on north facing slopes. Seriously dangerous deadly stuff on a slick shod horse
