    Best time (usually) to rifle hunt a type 6 in WY unit 9

    Alright all you WY unit 9 hunters, I'm trying to capitalize on a Unit 9 type 6 tag with only a few days available to me. My question is: what timeframe is usually the best to be able to see cows in a small window as I will not have but a few days to hunt. I'm guessing after the snow pushes them...

    WY Unit 9 general info requested

    I drew a cow tag for this unit and was looking for any general information on it. Is water plentiful most years, hunter density during archery, non-hunter use, do the cows tend to hang around a certain elevation in this unit, black bear prevalence, etc.?

    WY reduced cow multiple seasons?

    Can someone explain why there may be two rifle seasons for reduced cow? One runs from the 15th of Aug - Jan 31 and the other is a shorter season. I can't find out the difference other than that and draw odds.
