With this year's wetness and volume of snow in the sierras, I'm curious how that has an effect on bear movement, elevation and food sources that will be available. New rifle zeroed-ish...
Took my new .308 savage out for first time to get scope all dialed in, and put some rounds through my new hunting tool. Setting my zero for 100yds and after about 12 rounds I was feeling comfortable with where i had it dialed. Though I am certain I need more practice, I'm comfortable to take it... -

First rifle
Just purchased my first rifle (in 10 day waiting period to pickup). Im a newer hunter and been archery only up to date. Any insight as to what kind of ammo and grain I should be ideally getting. I hunt for deer and bear, the rifle is a .308 savage axis. -

Nothing fancy
Nothing special here. Just excited to have purchased this guy after years of only having a car (used to commute, and my old 2004 tahoe). Bears and Fires
I'm uneducated on this one and I may be asking a dumb question. But how soon will bears reestablish in a burn area? I'm guessing since they rely on shrubs and acorns that it won't be til at least the next year, whereas deer and elk may move right back in at the sign of regrowth? Anyone have...- NickCNC

Arrow explosion
My boss, who also hunts and uses a bow, bought me some gold tip 500 spine arrows for xmas (cuz thats what he uses with his 45lb draw and swears by). I shoot cx maxima hunters 350 spine, with a 70lb draw. My question is, if use these and try em out, is my 70lb draw gonna absolutely blow these... -

Ohio 2020
Got back late last night from our 2020 trip to Ohio. Great experience. My step son shot a small doe but was unable get that buck this go around. Im a first year hunter and was able to harvest my first deer. The rack is nothing to boast about, i know, but im proud of it and he had a decent body... -
D5 opener
Once again, tons of fresh scat, tons of tracks, zero sightings. Hiked a total of 8.5 miles of wilderness, and ran into one other hunting at the truck that experienced the same... also experienced same during archery season as i am an archery only hunter... Ohio 2020

Unsuccessful Cali Archery Season
Four days of hunting in CA D5, turned out no return this archery season (for both deer and bear). Saw a ton of sign, but only one legal buck that i put a stalk on but he busted me at about 90yds.. Anyone have some Archery Season success? -
Early AM hike in
When making the trek into backcountry in the wee hiurs of the morning, do you guys rely solely on moonlight? Or do you hike in with the headlamp on until just before daybreak? My thought is i want to have the headlamp on just to make sure of my footing but i also dont want to be bumping animals...- NickCNC
