I love the suggestion, but one of the problems I had with the traditional 39a was the weight of the barrel. It was unnecessarily (IMO) heavy for a .22 sporting/hunting rifle. That Carbine has better lines, but still the same heavy barrel and fat forend. I never could understand why Marlin...
I'm so over all this. The damage that has already been done is beyond the point of recovering. Generations of young conservationists won't go near federal employment now. So much for attracting the best and brightest to serve us. Pretty much the opposite of #winning.
A commonly held belief in states where I've worked that is rarely supported by law.
Example: A tract of land is landlocked by four separate landowners who all have access to a public ROW. Can you tell us which one is required to give the landlocked owner an easement?
Anything they can claim as #winning and if it "owns the libs" then that's just icing on the cake. Other than that, I don't think the admin has a clue what their own priorities actually are. They are finding out (daily) that the sound bite issues that got their base fired up are in most cases...
I don't see this example as a concerning one. There are co-managed fed/state public land examples all across the U.S. already. Most people who use them don't even know about the arrangement, or care. Could these agreements make it that much easier to "give" those lands to the state? I guess...
What I find stunning is that often the one individual who has the most influence over stocking rates, is the county tax assessor who dictates how many head a landowner must run to qualify for an ag exemption. And that can vary wildly from one county to the next. They aren't required to have...
There are a few multi-generational stewards of land, and there are a lot more multi-generational users of land. Let's not romanticize the fact that at the end of the day, the goal for most is still to make enough money to at least survive on, if not get wealthy. I have a hard time buying the...
.22 LR, 30-30 currently.
Have owned several 6.5x55's and 7x57's, and a few '06's. All great guns that do nothing my 7mm-08, .308 or .300 WSM can't do better.
Literally everyone. LOL
I've often wondered if those same people also argue with their auto mechanics, electricians, doctors and accountants. Probably so.
40 years ago, on day 1 of Forestry 101, Dr. James Kroll (aka Dr. Deer) told all of us that we were here to learn how to manage people, not wildlife. First 10 min. of class he said everyone who is here that thinks they are going to get away from people and spend all day in the woods, go ahead...
Imagine a stock trader or welder or doctor or electrician having every decision picked apart in public the way wildlife officials are. Short of entertainers (and they asked for it), what other profession has so much public exposure and scrutiny.
