Last years hunting season was a humbling lesson. With this being our second year here in WY it’s been good so far and it’s still not over.
Had 2 firsts this year. Took my first bear and my wife went in her first ever hunt and filled her tag. Both took me 20 years to complete lol. Having a rug...
Well it took near 20 years but I finally got my first bear about 2 weeks ago. He will make a nice rug. Was about 300 pounds as well.
He’d been eating on a dead cow for awhile and his meat stunk like crazy. Made me sick to my stomach when I tried cooking some from the smell.
This was the first year I’ve applied for any leftover tags for my kids or myself.
My question is when do the results post? I failed to write that down when I applied and now I can’t find it on the WGFD web site or any of the emails I’ve received.
I feel like a idiot for even asking but here I...
Who’s gonna be chasing and or baiting spring baits? Good luck to you if you are.
Snow in my area is still up to 3’ deep on the gravel roads with up to 15’ snow drifts blocking the main paved road in. It was an 18 mile ATV ride one way for me just to get 1 bait in this week. I still love spring...
Ordering a new phone skope case but can’t find any current promo’s for them.
Can’t even find info if they offer a Military or Law Enforcement promo looking at their website.
How many hunt bears close up with a revolver? I’m itching to get one with my .44 Redhawk. I had my scope rings break and it also trashed my scope recently so I took them off. I will not be able to replace them by May 1 and spring gun season. Its going to have to go naked this spring and maybe...
I live in Rawlins and I’m trying to find out where the nearest International Bow Hunter Education Program (IBEP) course is being held. I’m not finding any info online and the lady at the WDFW had no clue what I was talking about. I’d like to put my two boys through this course as they want to...
I’m looking to get a new spotting scope to replace my current spotter which is an NC STAR (I’ve had it over 20 years now). I laugh at myself for it so no need to join in. I’m looking at a 20-80x50 or similar, as that’s what I currently have. With my current spotter once I get to 60x or so I’m...
How many of y’all get the youth only general tags for your kids or grandkids. This will be my first fall getting the elk & MD for my 2 boys now that we are residents.
For those that do and or have gotten them, how was it for them being able to hunt early and later than the adult gen season? IMO...
Have an argument going with a coworker on the legality of using screw in tree stand steps in the National Forest. It’s my understanding you can not screw anything into trees as they cause damage to them, and he says yes you can use them, so long as you remove them at the end of the season. I’ve...
I know in years past, when in Rawlins, Randy has stopped in at Jerry’s Donuts. That was until it closed down last year. Well Randy’s sweet tooth will be happy to know it’s opening back up in a month or so but under a new name and management. Will be called Sunshine Donuts and the owners of the...
With my 1st spring bear baiting/ hunting season here in south central WY in the books, I have the fall season now to prep for. Only bait hits were from sows with cubs. I’m wondering how many others here bait and or hunt bear in SC WY?
I’m wondering what sort of berries and or hard mast food...
Well I’m originally from SE WA (Kennewick) but moved away in ‘97 for a job with Uncle Sam. I’m retired from that gig and now living in Rawlins, WY working for the state. Been following Randy and the crew for many years now and his local videos and such played a part in deciding to move the...
