Trick to landing.fish on tiny flies

Was out yesterday, landed one small rainbow, lost a couple others including a nice one. I am fairly new to fly fishing. Fish with a friend who is very good, but he couldn't help with this other than maybe to slow and to hard on setting the hook. We were float and wade fishing. Using a size 18...

    Steel shot for geese

I will be goose hunting over decoys in fields shortly. My past life waterfowl was centered on ducks and I shot 20 Guage 3inch mag #2. Worked great on ducks and on a random goose they also worked Is it a wise move to go up to bb sized shot when the only targets will be Canadian geese, both...

How to work a lazy bull

New one for me today (yes I am fairly new at this) Working a ridge line trying to sound like a lost calf, occasionally toss out a locator bugle. Finally an answer, well sort of. Like a half hearted bugle, about 2 seconds, then 1 to 2 weak chuckles. I moved in closer, hard to tell how far he...

    In reach mini or messenger

Late last year I lost my In reach mini. Carabiner came up hooked and at some point it dropped off. Looking to replace it I came across a new garmin device called messenger. I ONLY use it as a text path to my wife while hunting in the mountains. Looks like messenger is a dumbed down text and...

What is it and how do i get rid of it?

Live in north central WY, this stuff has invaded our dirt, also known as dead lawn. Last fall we pulled it all but it's back. It spreads and pretty sure mowing it down will spread it more. How do I kill it? If needed I don't mind killing what little grass we have. Also it doesn't seem to go...

    Resident Elk General question

Read through as much as I could find, but couldn't find a clear answer. Working on my choice 1,2,3 elk draw options. My question is, as a resident, am I guaranteed a general elk license? Wife and I have a working plan, where we will try to draw bull tag (type 1), then cow tag (type 4) in that...

    handgun/safety?? Am I overthinking this?

Thanks to all the previous help on this site for picking my first handgun. We have narrowed down to a few and will be visiting a range to actually shoot some. One thing that suprised me however is the lack of an external safety. Maybe I am over thinking, and I understand the internal safety...

    How far do elk move?

As my elk tag closed where I hunt (WY General) my wife still has several weeks on her cow tag. The issue we are having is finding them! Well we have found them, just not where we can get to and it seems to be "all of them". Areas we hunted earlier are empty, late season areas from last year...

Why do people do this when they camp?

I get it, you can camp anywhere on BLM etc. But if you are here to hunt and camp, GREAT, more power to you, but why drive all the way through the BLM/public then camp, then hunt and complain you don't see much, driving in/out just chases things off! Sorry for the vent, this is an easy to draw...

front sling mount - does it move?

Yesterday wife and I noticed her rifle, in the bipod, is "twisted", it's like the gun is leaning left. Her bipod does NOT swivel. In playing around I noticed the sling mount is turned slightly, so the if you stand the gun on the butt, one side of the mount, the hole is lower than the other, as...

    WY party app question

Wife and I were thinking this through while antelope hunting. Unit takes 6 to 7 points for non residents and about 1 in 4 odds for residents, we'd love to get our sons to it. Can a party app include both residents and nonresidents? If so how do points work
