And the Hits just keep on coming....WY now.

@BuzzH how would this affect the random tag allocation for nonresident bighorn sheep? It looks like last year, 2 units had 1 random tag allocated and 2 units had 2 random tags. Assuming the same tag quotas as last year is there still a chance for a random tag in at least one of those units if...

Hunting MT sheep with a Nikon (pic heavy)

I think I saw that same ram with the broken horn as well. I would have loved to have seen him with both horns

How do you fund your Hunting?

I climb smoke stacks and do emissions testing and earn lots of vacation for hunting.

    Dogs at work

Very happy! Haha. He doesnt get to come in very often, only when we're exceptionally slow. But he behaves himself pretty well when we're there

Possibly last year on this property. Making the most of it.

It's been an interesting process so far. Frustrating at times but worth every second. I'm thinking a boat is in my future. I hope you can get it done as well!

    Dogs at work

Does anybody else take their dog to work with them? I like to bring my buddy in with me when I'm in the office and we're slow.

Thats too bad about your spot. My dad and I are going through something similar this year. The property owners have decided to lease it to outfitters so bye bye duck hunting out there. Looks like you got a lot of good years and memories out of it at least. Also, thats a beautiful wood duck mount!

    Colorado folks

Good points. And I do not always follow my own advice, largely because I enjoy seeing new country. However, if you find a spot where you have seen elk I think its advantageous to return because you are going to learn new things about the country and elk behavior every time you're there that are...

    Colorado folks

Wllm1313, I would have to agree with your speculation. There are guys out there that have been hunting the same units for decades and know the land and how the elk behave on it like the back of their hands. I would suspect these guys kill elk most years which drives down the stats for newbies...

    Missed opportunities.

You may have not gotten a buck but at least you got a good story out of it! The only guarantee with hunting is you're not going to see anything if you don't get out there. Hope you have some better luck next year

    What are you currently reading?

Lots of books here going on my amazon wishlist. I'm currently reading Montana Land of Giant Rams Volume 3. Just finished Leaving Cheyenne by Larry Mcmurtry. Not as good as Lonesome Dove but a much quicker read

    Howdy from MT

Thanks all! I'm just outside of Billings. But I have the luxury of traveling for work so I've seen a decent amount of the state and some of the surrounding states. Gotta say, Billings is a great central location for hunting and outdoors stuff in general

    Howdy from MT

Hey all, I have been lurking in these forums for the last few years and the wealth of information here is astounding. So I thought I'd register and start participating as well. Anyway, I grew up hunting in Colorado and moved to Montana 3 years ago for work. I've been lucky enough to be very...
