    Black Bear

My big game hunting has all been for ungulates and I’m ready to try something new. Looking for suggestions/recommendations. Spring or fall? DIY or outfitter? I call south central Kansas home so I’m leaning towards Montana, Idaho, Oklahoma, or Arkansas; but would consider others as recommended.

    Wyoming Deer General A

Hunted hard the 26th thru 30th. Weather was incredibly mild for late November. Saw mulies and whitetails while driving but only whitetails on the ranch we were hunting. Unfortunately, only 3 of those were bucks so we took a pair of nice does yesterday morning.

Next year will be the year. I didn’t pull an either species deer tag so I’m heading for my first out of state hunt.

Be more than happy to help you out. BTW, notices went out July 2nd in 2020. Hopefully I’ll draw a tag for a KS muley this year. Drew a WY one today.

    Wyoming Deer General A

Non-resident and drew a General A. Highly probable that I’ll have access to private land and would like to focus on a mule deer as I can take a good whitetail back home in Kansas. Any recommendations on timing to plan for?

At what point do you start calling your taxidermist?

Good news. Spoke with my taxidermist on Friday and I should have both back by the end of June.

At what point do you start calling your taxidermist?

When I dropped the elk off, he said 6 months as he planned to move it up in the order since it has a large drop tine. Then the pandemic impacted the eyes. Then all of his wood working tools (to build the pedestal) were in Wyoming since they had spent most of the summer renovating their cabin...

At what point do you start calling your taxidermist?

He's had both racks since I dropped the hides off.

At what point do you start calling your taxidermist?

I took a bull elk in September of 2019 and a buck pronghorn in October of 2020 to the same taxidermist. He does incredible work and takes "limited customers" each year. To date, I've gotten neither back. At what point do I start making calls to him?

    2021 controlled hunts

On the elk hunts that are noted as walk-in only, what exactly does the walk-in imply? Designated parking area and hoofing it from there? No driving off the roadway and packing your kill out?
