Great point on the seat. I also brought a little pad to sit on and I think it gets the unsung hero award. I don't know what I would've done without it. Unrelated, but I can't help but wonder about 14 bullets. I brought 8... 7 for shooting at animals and 1 for myself if I missed with the first 7...

Experience is the best teacher. Read as much as you can but at some point you have to just give it your best shot. I wish I didn't wait so long to go out and try it. Your first time doing anything can be a total flop, but one attempt at the wilderness will teach you more than any message board...

Welp. Just got back from a week in the unlimiteds and I don't even know where to start. I learned a lot and saw some beautiful country, which is all I could really ask for. The first day I made a camp around 9,000 ft and that night was mayhem. It was so windy... must've been sustained 30-40 mph...

I saw a bunch of trees like this last week but wasn't sure what it was... I thought bear at first but they went WAY high up the tree. Like 12-15' up which is way farther than a bear could reach. Are we certain that's from a bear?

Hey boys. Just caught up reading the past few weeks. I'm getting super excited. First time hunting these mountains is coming up! We're making the long drive up there this weekend and really looking forward to having a fun week putting myself to the test this November. Been watching the weather...

It was pretty intimidating the first time I trekked into those mountains... and that was in August. It's some big country. Beautiful too. I hope your planning serves you well.

I literally laughed out loud. But come on, there are only 5 units to pick from and they all have sheep... how much value is there in keeping the unit a secret. Also, how have you spent money "figuring it out" and how do you have a unit if you've never been there?

I know we all keep our hunting spots quiet... but I was wondering if y'all would share what unit you hunt. Just curious.

Great feedback guys. I love the Beartooths and I get up there every chance I get. But I've never been there after early September. My last time there I packed in all my gear AND a 35 pound munchkin that calls me daddy that rode on my shoulders (which made for an extra heavy load). The altitude...

72 lbs considers every piece of equipment I'm planning on hiking in with. Tent, rifle, water, extra clothing layers... all the way down to including my iPhone, headlamp, knife, and game bags. And everything in between. I'd like to get the weight down but I've been through the list dozens of...

Speaking of my forum handle, what do yall bring for anti-bear devices, if anything? Pepper spray? 240 grain spray? I'm planning on bringing a sidearm but revolvers are heavy. And going that late in the year, would a water filter be totally useless? I'm not sure if everything's going to be frozen...

Hi all. First time post ever on a hunting forum. I'm happy I found a thread on hunting the unlimited's that's still active. This is my first year going... I'll be driving up from Texas and heading into zone 502. It shouldn't be too cold, right? Lots to be learned I'm sure but you can only learn...
