NM Oryx 2023
I suppose it wouldn't be fitting to end a hunting season without an obligatory NM Oryx harvest, so here you go. My opinion is fix it. I like to restore animals to their prime state as a sign of respect for their life. I have no problem leaving it broken for character though either.- Brentc

NOSLER wants to see your success
My WSM is a custom barreled South Carolina Win 70. The barrel is a 26" 10 twist. I use H4350 with this load in Norma brass and a Fed 210M primer. I've been very successful with heavy bullets in a 300 WSM.- Brentc

2022 successful trips with .308 Caliber 200 grain Accubond fired from a 300 WSM. One and done @ 385 yards on the NM Oryx. Same rifle, same load. Alaska Moose @ 400 yards. Also one and done.- Brentc

Robert Major and his team at Major's wildlife studio mount hundreds of Oryx per year. They know what Oryx mounts are supposed to look like and they produce top notch quality.- Brentc

Garcia's is great. He mounted a mule deer for me a couple years ago. Here is an OIL Oryx he recently did. I'm thinking the form is the one I want for my latest Oryx.- Brentc

Just found out from a local SCI measurer that she's #15 for free range Oryx in North America. SCI requires a 60 day drying period to make it official for top 20 entries, though.- Brentc

Oryx & Rocks
It's because their horns get brittle in freezing winter temps, which causes the horns to break when the animals fight or spar. They can be very aggressive animals. The bulls more so than the cows.- Brentc
