The jacket is a 2XL and the bibs are XL. Really warm suit for stand sitting. They are gently used. I’m usually a XL top and bottom and these fit well. I’d like to sell together for $225, but would consider selling them separate if that is preferred.
Never said I have never backpacked. Crazy? Not really. It's a dream and I think I am reasonably planning it out. I am already talking with the wife about some overnight hikes this coming Spring and Summer. Not getting any younger so rather than just say "it's too hard, not going to happen" I am...
The above process is almost identical to mine. I have a CVA Kodiak, 28 in. barrel. I shoot a 250 grain Barnes Expander MZ with 100 grains of 777 pelleted powder. As a P.S.A, mark your ramrod!
I find my particular ML strings shots out the dirtier the barrel gets, so I spit patch and dry patch...
Good call, totally forgot about the XTP somehow  I used this about 15 years ago out of my .50 muzzle loader as well. I think they were 300 grain, but I think I will go lighter this time around.
I seem to do this more often than not, but I am already thinking of what .44 mag bullet I want to use for a gun I don't own yet. My oldest daughter (9) has expressed some interest in deer hunting (already been hunting small game and turkeys) and fall of 2019 I want to be able to give her the...
Looks like a successful day! Congrats!
I call that a tom. Mostly due to the spurs, not the beard. We get frozen off beards around here, some really big toms have 3" beards, lol. That fan is run of the mill in the fall. I hunt fall turkeys each year and I don't believe I have ever gotten a...
Whoa! Nice curveball glass eye...I'd call myself a generalist, but waterfowl does rank up there on my list. Every bird in that picture would be glad to come home with me! I usually see the three on the left, but they are always brown :) Thanks for having me reconsider my options! Lol. Alaska...
First Pronghorn
First Pronghorn. Taken this year. I handloaded 150 grain Nosler Partition's in my .270 Winchester. I can't see me ever changing what I use. Same load has taken white-tailed deer in Michigan and feral hogs in Florida. I have never needed more than one, and have never recovered...
First off, I did not know exactly where to post this, but I figured this forum would be a good start. If it needs to be directed somewhere more fitting please let me know. I am going to Palm Springs the first week of December for work. Not my pick of where I would want to go for a few days, but...
Shaffe, I really like the comparison you gave as I was looking at those two of those three packs already. I also plan on getting a load shelf pack to do the heavy lifting. As I said earlier I recognize packing out an elk is not a one trip affair. As such, I can get that load shelf pack when I...
Man, I was waiting to hear how this went. Not only did you guys have a blast but you brought home some success too! Nice grouse, and that looks like an old bossy doe. What a great weekend. Good job there dad.
One of the safety tenants, treat the gun as if it is always loaded, has never been lost on me. I am a real prick when it comes to being painted by a muzzle, and all my hunting buddies know this. I don't even like gun cases pointed near me. Come to think of it the guys I hunt with are a small...
Thanks for the input everyone. I think I will look at high quality backpacking packs in at least the 70L variety, and then a load shelf pack to finish the job (thinking positively). I looked at my wife's Osprey last night and it is a 65L, and I know I will want more than that. I grew up with...
That makes good sense to me. I would definitely NOT be going solo. But all three of us would have the same experience level. I am planning this now so hopefully I can gradually build my supply of decent gear and get some time under my pack. Then will build my gear pile around that. Having a...
I am looking at planning a backpack rifle elk hunting trip in 2020. Not 100% sure on the details as of yet, but I am betting around 5 days in. I do like to have "stuff" but am not a person that has to have every gadget. I am of the mindset "better to have it and not need it, than to need it and...
