I have two of the vx5-hd with fire dot I got from schmalts. You will not regret the purchase.Firedot is great on hogs late in the evening. -

I was going to say I had two of 4.5-15 x 44 with the fire dot, and love them but these guys make me feel like a rookie, and yes PM Smalts you will not be disappointed. -

Leupold VX-3i or VX-5HD, which one?
I have two VX5HD 3-15X44 with the fire dot, if your budget permits go with the vx5 all day long. You will not regret it, and I am someone who used to work for a living and clearly remember the first time I could afford a LEUPOLD. -

Iv'e tried them and don't really care for them, the are ok, I 'm just accustomed to the Butler Creek I guess. -
Scope movment
On top of that after having a loose scope/base years ago I believe in blue loctite. Some my disagree thts fine, but as someone said when I'm through I know its right and if not I'm to blame. You will not regret getting that torque wrench, just adds to the confidence level. -

Just be careful about their "in stock: items. I think sometimes they mean in stock as soon as they get them, maybe just my experience. -
New Addition - Howa 25-06
I have a 25-06 in the Remington BDL from the 90's it shoots lights out and i shoot the Hornady 117gr SST. My 270 is a Weatherby vanguard/1500 and I shoot the 130 SST in it also. -
Tikka help
I have the tx3 in 6.5cm and bought the B&C stock and new bottom metal. Yes it was free floated. I like the embedded metal, had todo just a little sanding/Dremel work but love it. Shoots much gooder now. You will like it. -
HOWA questions here
I like the Howa, but the pdf catalog a pain to navigate. Is there any chance y’all are going to create a website where a person could more easily jump between the style and model that Howa makes. -
Eldx issues
You are absolutely correct sir, Eld-x ant the sst are hunting bullets. The Eldx really preforms beyond 400 yards. I have the same issues with it at short yardage as you mentioned so I am switching. The SST is a great bullet, I have used it for years in my 25-06 with excellent results. I think...- bholt

I have the BDL in a .243 and 25-06 from the mid 80's and early 90's both drive nails. When you find one you will not be disappointed. The funny thing is I keep hearing how the 25-06 is on the way out thanks to the 6.5 craze. I also have a 6.5 cm in a Tikka T3X but i still love my 25 and cannot... -

I firmly agree as an old dinosaur whose live on a budget, I've shot everything from Tasco to Leupold, and as someone with vast knowledge and infinite wisdom I am going to tell you this. Don't let your desire for the best over rule your budget. Today the mid range scopes are better than the top... -

if you ever shoot the 25-06 you will fall in love with it I've had two one in a mod 70 and the rem 700 BDL. I still have the 700 and will never sell it. recently bought a Tikka T3X Lite 6.5cm in stainless and plastic, but 25-06 BDL is my baby. As for bullets it likes all I have tried but... -
Tikka Replacement Stock
I choose to re-stock my Tikka t3x lite added .25 lb to overall weight but I also replaced the bottom plastic with bottom metal from HIGH DESERT RESEARCH everything fit like a glove and rifle shoots much "GOODER" now. -

Another vote for the B&C, I replace the stock and bottom medal on my Tikka T3X lite accuracy improved greatly. I had never had a plastic stock before but was very impressed with the installation of the stock and the bottom metal I got from High Desert Research. -
Rings for my new VX-5
I have used the Leupold std rings on several rifles over the years. With that said the only negative thing I have to say is on two I have had a ring screw break where it screwed into the bottom ring, not something you need to find when hunting. I recently bought some Warne rings to go on my VX-5.
