I was fortunate draw my first ever tag in New Mexico in 2006. I was able to tag a very nice bull my first time out on the last afternoon of a 8 day hunt. I had no idea where I was going other than some Topo Map scouting and a few Terra Server paper maps in my pack. There was no No Go Hunt...
Freezer and generator. Dry ice works too but is expensive and one or two trips using dry ice you could have purchased a cheap 7 cubic foot freezer. Small inverter generators like generac a 2200 or 2500 work great for this and they can be used for many things.
I remember a time when you could get two antelope buck tags in Wyoming. One through the draw and then buy an additional leftover buck tag with zero points. This was all around the economic down turn in 2008ish and a few years afterwards. Hunting was awesome. Few people and game everywhere...
I learned taxidermy via DVDs and VHS tapes. As others have said the initial investment for all the supplies needed to get into the field will be a moderate pill to swallow. Shipping costs are also crazy these days. Cost for a whitetail mount with tanned cape, form and misc supplies will be...
I have been trying to get ahold of some more 140 grain, Federal/Meateater Trophy Copper for over a year. It appears they are now discontinued per the Federal website. I will need to look at comparable rounds going forward.
Understand what load inflation charts are and do some simple math. Google the topic as there are a good number of threads on how to use this information.
I personally think Arizona is going to take at least 12-15 points to draw low to mid tier archery tags that were 8-10 point units just a few years ago. I'd take that into consideration going forward. I know so many people building points in no man's land in both Wyoming and Arizona thinking...
Great hunt, beautiful country. Get in shape, spend as much time as you can hunting. There are big bulls in the unit. Be selective, hunt up to timberline. Apply for the tag and don't look back.
Crazy thing about 8 years ago you could get a second leftover tag in addition too your regular tag in those units. Times have changed. It's possible to shoot 4 animals but your gonna see plenty of other hunters and you all will be driving by those public parcels all day looking for a goat to...
