Hope you like it - I sure like my Alpine in 7mm-08. I was glad to see it added to superlite offerings and I think it was a smart move. Despite ammo sales, 7mm-08 might be the easiest chambering to sell in anything lightweight. Go try to find an Alpine, Fieldcraft or NULA in 7mm-08 sometime! -

In addition to holding onto the forend as mentioned, I find making sure both heel and toe of the stock is supported goes a long way to preventing vertical fliers. For me, I have tended to throw shots low when the toe of the stock isn't in good contact with my shoulder. Pulling your firing side... -

Resprung? What what what? I've always just trimmed a coil off the end of the stock spring. Would love to hear what springs folks are using. I agree, never walk around with one in the pipe, but I don't think a lighter spring would affect safety so long as the one doing the spring changes adjusts... -

I agree. But also ditch the bottom metal, for a lightweight mountain rifle it makes sense to go with a blind mag. Howa's HACT trigger, the pull is perfect and can be lightened very easily, excellent feel. I just can't figure out why that awful trigger shoe. It's way too short and too narrow... -

Good thing I bought one while I could. I reload but was hoping to use Hornady Superformance GMX in it. It grouped absolutely terribly for the 3 rounds I shot. I'll have to do more testing, but has anyone else used this ammo in their Howa Alpine Mountain? -

I just bought the package gun in 7mm-08 on 12/28, took a while to ship but I made it out to the range for barrel break in this weekend. Mine shoots great, just my feeling after shooting 20rds through it for barrel break in. Even with a freshly clean bore, the last 10 shots went into about a 2"...
