I just picked up one of the mystery ranch Metcalf multicam packs that are on sale right now and so far it seems to fit without any problems on me. I’m not a small guy either.
My biggest problem with having the surgery is that I’m self employed and no insurance. I can’t work I don’t get paid so if it were to all come down to that I’ll just leave the bow out of my hunting program. Cush I do believe I’m going to look into your suggestion of trying a bow that has a low...
That’s good to know. I’m not to the point of having surgery on my shoulder yet because drawing a bow is the only thing I’ve found that consistently gives me fits. But I will definitely keep that in mind for when I decide it’s time to get it fixed.
I shoot matches in 5.11’s. They’re really comfortable, have good flexibility, and are really durable but I found out the hard way they’re pretty thin when it comes to cold weather. Even with base layer bottoms they don’t do much for you in the warmth department. I’d say early season they’re...
I do use a crossbow some but I don’t know that I can get a doctor note on it. I’ve never looked into it to be honest bc in Texas I don’t have to have one to use it during archery season. I enjoyed shooting a compound bow and would like to again if at all possible. I do have a bow shop locally so...
That is an odd draw but I could sure see how that would help out with some of the shoulder issues. I may end up having to adopt something like that. No telling since I’ve been out of the game so long. Thanks a lot for your help on this. Nice to visit with someone else that is dealing the same...
I honestly couldn’t tell you what the draw weight was on the bow I shot last. Odds are you’re probably right because it belonged to one of my buddies. I hadn’t thought about one looking into one that had a wide adjustment range. That’s a good idea. I had sold my bow after the first round of...
I have had several shoulder injuries over the last 15 years. I haven’t tried to shoot a bow in the last 6-8 years because of it. I found that after drawing a bow more than about 5-6 times becomes hard to do because I can feel my shoulder slipping in the joint now. After starting to starting to...
Efw thank you for that pointer. That makes total sense. I’m not sure why I didn’t see that while looking at draw odds. Time to go back and do some more research as I’d rather hunt than just draw a point.
Epfd217 thank you for that. Never having used a seek tipi before, I like hearing from someone that uses them. Also knowing now that the 1/2 liner isn’t worth spending the extra cash for. Does the stove do a pretty good job heating the shelter as long as you mind the fire? I really think I’m...
Thanks guys. The numbers that Topgun posted are the numbers I used for my research determining the units I came up with. I’ve been studying both the WY website and goHUNT. With this being my first hunt I wasn’t sure how the rate hike would affect our chances. I understand that none of these may...
Most of the time this will be used in the fall/winter months for rifle hunts. I like the fact that I have standing room with the floorless and the fact that I can use a stove. For those of you that use the floorless models, how often are you packing in a stove and using it?
Trying to get my gear set up for back country hunting. One thing I can’t decide on is my tent. The 2 choices I’ve narrowed it down to are the Hilleberg nallo 2 gt and the seek outside 4 person tipi. I like the extra floor space of the tipi but have always used more of the standard style tents...
Looking into units 1,103, and 113 for the draw with 0 pp. will be 2 of us for rifle season. From what I’ve been able to determine from goHUNT, all 3 should be 100% for either type 1 or 2 depending on the Unit. I know all 3 units have smaller areas of public but looking at onX there should still...
