Soooo I did a dumb thing

I needed a set of rings for the 22lr that I shoot my matches with. I upgraded scopes to one that has a 30 mm body. being on a tight budget I bought a ebay special (meaning cheap). When I put the scope on I stripped one of the two screws on the rear ring for sure and I think I might be very close...

Has anyone hunted elk from a kayak

Have any of you guys ever hunted elk out of a kayak? I have found a unit that has good public but very little access to it, but there is a river that touches it in a few places so I think it would be doable to hunt out of a boat, except that I have never used a boat before. Any pointers?

    Herter's

My wife gave me some antique fishing stuff for Christmas, some of it was from Herter's. That was a blast from the past, I used to look at their catalogs for hours as a kid. Any of you guys order from them?

I was walking into work the other day and saw this hitch, it was attached to a Hummer, I kinda want to know what the weight limit would be...

Lost zeros, wrong turns and broken packs

This has been the longest deer hunt since we moved to Wyoming 4 years ago. I could not find a buck anywhere! I mean nowhere, all my honey holes that have been productive in the past were either dry or covered up with out of state trucks. I hiked into places that I didn't even know existed until...

    who does it better

I love a good thriller/action book, but most authors cant get the gun stuff/fight realism. My top three authors that are masters at this are Louis L'Amour, Stephen Hunter, and Jack Carr. I just found Jack Carr by accident and I have to say he is awesome. Who is your favorite?

    Throwing good money after bad

I have a guy at work that has a Raptor arms (never heard of them) chambered in 270 Win. he has to have a bunch of work done to it totaling $700. The issue is that it is worth about $300 from what I have heard. He didn't ask me about it before hand or I would have steered him in another...

Bugling during a rifle rut hunt?

So my wife (270.Rose), drew a bull elk tag that we can hunt rut for, so the resident guide, packer, caller, and coach it has fallen on me to help her get within range. Should I take my bugle tube and use bugles more for locating before stalking in or should I stick with cow calls? I should add...

    Bear bait barrels

I can put my bait barrel out in just a couple of weeks and I had a couple of questions about it. How big do you cut your holes so they can get the bait out? I am doing it on a pretty tight budget so I am planning on using a lot of popcorn and dog food, mebbie some sweet feed, that kind of thing...

    Varmints and handguns

When I was working on the ranch I carried a handgun constantly usually in the truck or if I wasn't working cattle on my hip, ether a 1911 chambered in 45 ACP or a Heritage arms (don't laugh, my wife and I were broke) 22 LR. It is amazing how accuracy you can get with them when you shoot...

    Anyone shoot a Benelli Lupo?

I was in my local gun shop the other day and had the chance to hold a Benelli Lupo. First of all it is a weird looking bolt gun, l think it kind of looks like a BAR crossed with a bolt gun, but it was really nice to hold. I don't think I would ever want to own one but just out of curiosity how...

    Favorite catfish bait

There is a good sized reservoir near us that reportedly has big channel catfish in it but in several trips l havn't caught one yet. I have been using worms and commercial stink bait. What is your go to catfish bait? I have always been more of a brook trout streem fishing guy so I have no idea...

    What was your worst packout?

What was it? Distance, gear failure, or topography? Mine was packing a bull out of a hellish canyon choked with scrub oak, and to top it all off we ran out of water so I had to hike an extra mile to fill water bottles. Which the hunter wouldn't drink because the spring that I got the water out...

    bicep/shoulder workout

I have been working out a lot more recently. I can't do many pushups because of a bad shoulder and my elbow snap, crackles, and pops like a bowl of rice krispy treats, good time as a dumb teenager. Any of you have any decent bicep/shoulder workouts that arn't murder on the joints?

    truck travesties

l lost the engine in the first truck that l ever bought, it was a ram 1500 with a 5 speed transmission in it, it had the factory 323 engine that was a bit light for a truck that size but l took that truck everywhere. as l more than a bit broke l opted to replace it myself, l scraped up some...
