    Barn Owl Cameras- AVOID

Picked up a Barn owl cellular camera in November '22 to keep an eye on a hunting property. Setup was fairly easy for both the camera and solar panel. Transmitted well for a month or two. Then it died randomly. They sent me another one in April '23. Set that one up, and things were going great...

Small outboard- Suzuki v. Merc. v. Yamaha

Putting a skiff together and looking at options for a 9.9 EFI four stroke. I currently have a Mercury (which is actually a Tohatsu) that is a great little engine, but will be selling with the boat I'm replacing. Anyone got strong opinions between these? All have good warranties and seem to be...

    Anyone looking for a pilot?

Mods- feel free to delete if not appropriate, but figured this could potentially be pertinent within the hunting community. 700 hour CFI here looking for my next gig. Any outfitters need a pilot for this season? Commercial ASEL/AMEL/ASES/Tailwheel, USCG 100 ton captain, veteran, etc... happy to...

    Ultralight Climbers

While getting my life together for a public land whitetail effort this year, I noticed the X Stand X-1 climber I've been using for the past 5 or 6 years is starting to show some wear on the cables. Looks like it'll make it through this season, but it's now a 25 yard target to find a replacement...

    Gheenoe Owners?

Am I the only one on here? Had mine since May and I honestly don't think I can ever see myself owning any other kind of boat in the lower 48. Just something fulfilling about knocking out a limit of topwater reds and trout while burning a total of 10 ounces of fuel

    Tikka T3X- Tight Chamber

Got a brand new T3X set up recently. When function testing today, bolt was tough to close with several brands of factory ammo and left the pictured ejector marks. Never been fired. One brand of factory chambered normally, two did not. Anyone know an easier fix than sending back to Tikka? Soak...

    Binos vs. Riflescope

Interested in the collective opinion on this, as I've seen and heard recommendations on this topic recently that seemed confusing. When someone is either upgrading their optics suite for the first time or getting into hunting, which of these categories is a higher priority to spend money on and...

    The Company We Keep

Whether we like it or not, the world of hunting is at a crossroads that will determine much of its future. Every year recently, there are more and more PR disasters for our sport. Many are smaller; some are severe enough to make national headlines. The common theme is that this phenomenon is...

    Sheridan Horseback Riding

Going to be near Sheridan for the weekend of 07-09OCT22 doing a combo hunting/ sightseeing trip. After we cover the public in my Pronghorn unit, which should take about an hour, I thought it'd be fun to show my girlfriend the Bighorns by horseback. If anyone runs horseback tours in the Sheridan...

    Chesapeake Bay Conservation Petition

Not often these days that you see a conservation story starting to go straight in the right direction, but that's shaping up to be the case in Virginia. I'll do my best to keep a very long story short for anyone who's not familiar. The Chesapeake Bay ecosystem rests on the shoulders of a...

    Custom Ammo Manufacturers

Just wondering how guys' experiences have been using custom ammo manufacturers like Unknown Munitions, Pendleton ammo, etc. If anyone has input about things you liked, how your order process went, if you used their load development service, would love to hear it! Thanks in advance.

    .308 Copper Monos

Have a Howa 1500 in .308 Win that likes Hornady 165 grain GMX factory stuff pretty well, and planning to load up a few rounds to attempt to duplicate or improve this performance. Question is this- since a 165 grain copper (or "gilding," in this case) monolithic bullet takes up so much volume, is...

    Scammer Alert- Muddyboots

Member muddyboots replied to my thread wanting to buy a Labradar chronograph. Screenshots of our conversation: Despite them saying that they were the first owner, I found the same pictures, which they had, evidently, ripped off another forum, on a thread for a transaction that happened months...

    Wax Paper Meat Wrap

Anyone ever use wax paper to wrap their game? Certainly as airtight as butcher paper or probably plastic, super cheap, biodegradable, food grade, etc... gave it a try on a few packs last week as an op test, and it appeared to seal up great.
