First time elk hunter
I know there's going to be a lot of glassing / walking . This time of year during first rifle season do Elk stay high in the mountains ? With the rut ending will cow/ bugling calls scare them off. -

I am looking for any advice I can get for this year's rifle season in Vega reservoir Colorado area (421). I have been a deer Hunter for over 25 years and finally going on my first elk hunt with rifle in just a few days. I will be doing a drop camp style hunt.
