Hi just to add. Once you find the windpipe before you cut it pull on it up out of the chest and run your fingers down it into the chest. This frees a lot of the sinew off. Then cut through windpipe horizontally this will take you straight to the gullet. I tie it twice with jute thread as it ties...

Ideas for a antelope, deer and elk rifle for wife and daughter.

    Or a K95 rather than R8 in 7x57

Might want to add the 6.5x55se in that list. But again that was before 1905😂

Apologies if I’m telling you something you already know. The 7mm mauser was copied by John Rigby in the early 1900’s and used the then favoured imperial system of naming rather than metric. Hence the .275”. If stamped 275 then likely to be an English gun. As a 7mm cartridge the 7x57/275 rigby is...

    Red Foxes ??

As Richard said no show. But we will keep trying. There are very predictable and tend to turn up roughly at same time each night. This one seems to have changed his routine, probably because we have scared him off at some time. It’s just a case of working out when he does his rounds again. It...

    Big Ears strikes!

Those glasses get everywhere! 🙈Thanks for the comments about the rifle. Got to say it is a dream to shoot with 162gr ammo it drops everything with mild manners. I’m becoming a fan of the 7x57, or should I call it a 275 Rigby🤔

    New bowhunter

Cheers. There is a local 3D shoot with an archery shop attached who I am hoping to go to when the lock down finishes. They run beginners courses so hoping to link up with them to get started. A lot of recurve shooters here in UK so compound in minority but guess the basics will be the same. BE

    New bowhunter

Thanks guys. Diamond SB1 has caught my eye. Not sure if anyone has tried it. But looks like it will kind of fit the bill as it is very adjustable.

    New bowhunter

Hope you guys are keeping safe at this time. Watching this from UK. Thinking of starting bow shooting but we don’t have many bow shops here, and therefore reliant on the internet. Is the right idea to buy a cheap bow package to start with with a view to buying an better bow later or buy an...

    No Whitetail here!

I was about to post this but @devon deer beat me too it. Was a long but good day yesterday. I now have true confidence in this rifle and comes to the shoulder really well. Good luck Richard tomorrow it won’t be long until I join you out again I hope.

    A thing of beauty!

Yes. Thought long and hard about this but our hunting is more woodland and close, not like the 3-400yard shots I had to deal with in Montana. it will just make me 100% sure before I pull that trigger
