Has anyone proposed to keep the season the same way that always been, but come Nov1 limit it to 4 points on one side for mule deer and three points on main beam for whitetail.
So if you just want to fill a tag you can in October. Then during the rut it protects the smaller bucks.
Decided to go out the 14th instead of the 22. I was taking my son on his first hunt in Montana. We were staying in tents and I wanted to avoid the colder temps coming for his sake.
Seen some mule deer chasing and grouped with does mostly 3x3 and forkies nothing worth shooting. Mabye that's...
Anyone seeing much for rut activity in southeast Montana yet. Not sure to head out that way on the 14th or the 21. I see some colder weather should move in by the end of next week.
My guess is most people with all the negative things to say about 61 have never had the privilege to draw it. I have and it was a great hunt. Don't expect to see 350 bulls all over, but plenty of solid 6pts around.
I knew this going in so that is what I expected. What you will find is lots...
Drew this permit for either sex. Was planning an archery hunt but due to changes at work I can't get away in Sept.
I have hunted unit 410 for many years during archery season and have driven around 412 and thought it would be a fun to give it a try. However, I have never been there during...
Good Idea. Here is a link to my 2019 Colorado elk hunt in 61 if anyone is thinking of burning a few points.

I shot a pair of Canadian geese once that were banded and also had neck bands. They were both banded on the same day eight years prior.
Failed at closing the deal on this guy three days in a row. Always one step behind or a few steps to far ahead. Failures definitely out way success when your bowhunting elk. Too many to mention here.
I found out this year, for me solo, took five trips out of a very nasty canyon head included. Easier terrain I could have done it in four. If you can do a bull elk in less than four solo your welcome to hunt with me anytime, because your an animal!!
I was looking for a decent and sturdy mounting bracket to hang my european elk Mount recently and was having trouble finding something of good quality. Many of them seemed fine to hold the weight of a whitetail, but I just couldn't find anything I would trust for an elk. So I decided to make my...
I hear all the time that Hunter numbers are on the decline. I do see it at home here in Southern Minnesota around where I mostly hunt that is primarily private ground. Not near the pressure like it once was. Now step on to a piece of public ground and it is worse now than it ever has been...
