    I hear ya. Next friday is opening day for me in Saskatchewan, I drew a tag in a zone that only has 25 tags and probably 4000 applicants! Oh, not to mention I just got a huge new job and start next monday. Condition of signing was the days off for my elk hunt!

    Backstrap, it's what's for dinner

    Agree, All I do is thaw it, coat it with thick salt/pepper and wrap it in plastic wrap for a night, then I either BBQ it or braise it and roast or sometimes pan fry with a little butter.. absolutely perfect.

    I carry 10x42's in my harness all the time. Sometimes I wish they were more powerful but they still do everything I need them to do.

    Grinding burger??

    All straight up for me, 1 lb of ground and I double wrap it with plastic wrap and then a wrap with freezer paper. When i'm going to make burgers or something I will thaw it a little and put it back through the grinder, usually with some smoked bacon when I am making burgers. Extruded jerky...

    Honestly, the husqvarna ones on amazon or gransfors bruks out of sweden are by far the best axes/hatchets i've ever owned. You should be able to find both locally. I'm sure there is a dealer for both around you somewhere.

    If you aren't looking to shoot limits, get yourself some good shells. They are way cheaper than full bodies and are easier to store and take with you.
