At this point I feel I am being swayed to the 7-08 over the 243.
But I do have another question: out of the 243, 6.5, 7-08 which one has the superior ballistic coefficient? Or are they all pretty...
I should say that I am open to other calibers. But the more “mainstream “ the caliber the better for ammo reasons. I can reload, but would prefer not to. Too much recoil will lead to poor trigger control in my opinion. So that is my biggest concern.

I'll pay for onx if that what I need to do. This is all public land area I'm hunting in. My local fish and game guy told me there are a lot of elk and a lot of hunters in this area, so I really need to find those spots off the beaten path.
I'm hunting a new area with my bow this year and although my dad claims to know where the elk are, he hasn't hunted there in 20 years. If I give you the area is there any chance someone could suggest a few likely spots? I've watched videos, and played with it a bit myself but never doing it...
