Favorite to eat Mallard, best looking Woody. Oddly enough the bland Black duck is my favorite. In a slow migration period they become old reliable in tidal marshes around here.
I have had both, good pedigrees with many champions and farmer bred dogs.
All have been good.
Watch the parents work, for a good waterfowl dog I look for a calm and chill dog at the house but turns it on when working. Absolutely No whiners.

I put the Leupold 4-12 VXR fire dot with
4.16” of eye relief on mine. I tried using 200 grains of 777 with the supplied sabots and it was all over the place. Tried 777 mag (180 grains) with same bullets and and it shot 1” groups out of a sled.
Yes i use them most of the time but they are not as sturdy as the tent and would be a huge pain to put up in serious wind. I wouldn't use them on the Wyoming plains but anything under 20mph should be fine.
