Montana Proposed Black Bear Season Changes

No restrictions until June 1 in units with no other restrictions and that used to close 31 May. Once June 1st hits if a district is over 37% female harvest the unit shuts down like any other quota type unit. Units that were open until 15 June in the past don’t have the harvest restrictions.

Montana Proposed Black Bear Season Changes

Yep, that’s it. Not a set number but a set %.

Montana Proposed Black Bear Season Changes

There is a quota beginning June 1 on any district that would have normally closed on 31 May. See the peach colored banner at the bottom of the page where the seasons for each district is laid out.

    No MSG under 18?

Yep. Agree 100%. According to the stats someone shot a .5 yr old female last year. How pathetic. Maybe it was for Instagram content, who knows. Not sure how anyone could feel a sense of accomplishment about that.

    No MSG under 18?

A blind man could look at the goat horn measurement data and figure out why we have declining goat numbers. There is only one unit with a nanny only season (5 permits), the Crazies, yet look at the nannies that get slaughtered in all the units, nearly 50 total. It’s absurd.

    MT 482-20

What a fiasco. With the technology that exists it’s hard to comprehend how mistakes can occur in a drawing. Hope you had a great hunt!

    MT 482-20

It would be mind boggling to try to understand why they wouldn’t categorize those as “Pick-up” or “Other” in the Type of Harvest column since they had one “Other” there last year and “Super/Auction Tag” are a category. Why even have “Hunter Harvest” as a category if that’s what they list all but...

    MT 482-20

The regs book has a quota of 15 rams listed, but 20 rams are documented in the recently published measurements PDF coming out of 482. All “Hunter Harvest”. 680 had a quota of 25 rams but it looks like 29 listed kills with an Auction Tag in there and some blanks where measurements should be. Who...

    MT 482-20

Down to the point someone shot a 2.5 yr old 23 14/16 x 11 6/16 ram there last year with 10 days left of season. I wish I knew the story.

I just wonder if someone in the Boddington crew had the 482 or 302 tag in ‘23. https://myfwp.mt.gov/getRepositoryFile?objectID=110708

Easy warrior…I was being facetious. I don’t travel east of the Mississippi anymore. Just threw that in there to see who it would trigger. Now we know.

They didn’t get delisted until ‘09 and the Tester/Simpson deal didn’t happen until 2 yrs later, so when we briefly spoke in ‘08, possibly ‘07, I doubt it was even a thought much less draft legislation. But you know this…and yes, I did send an email thanking him. No reply. It’s obvious a D can do...
