Priced Out of Replacement Blade Knives

They are not cheap but after gutting, quartering and carcass trimming three deer just recently, with the same Montana Knife Company knife and not resharpening I would recommend what they make.

    Best backcountry bone saw

I am all for weight savings, don't get me wrong but i'm starting to be convinced that the folks cutting half the tooth brush handle and skimping on TP are the same ones who are carrying the lower leg/hooves out of the woods. As for the topic, I have used a few to include a Gerber and Kershaw.

    Win .243 Ammo Suggestions Please

Got my son a .243 for his first hunting rifle. Worked up a load with the 80 gr ttsx that has been working well.

This is your property classification and appraisal notice

You are correct, after 8th grade they will go to Stevi or Florence. My son goes to Lone Rock.

    UTV Tire Chains

Once the snow shows up and the ice starts, my older RZR 800 has chains on all 4's for the duration of the winter. Pretty much needed for plowing when things get icy and really helps when you get off the beaten path.

    Cost of powder.

Found a site just the other day that had RL-22, which I have been looking for. When you added up the price, hazmat and shipping, came out to right at $60/lb. I said no thanks at that price. $75/lb for the RL-26, discussed here, is just insane.

7 mag Barnes 150 TTSX Anyone load this?

That is my current go to bullet with my 7mm. 3037 fps with 63gr of RL-22. Very accurate out of my gun. Found this load to be very consistent and accurate so haven't really pushed for more speed.

Have you ever been accused of..

Wouldn't call it a peeping tom situation but kind of. Had a mule deer tag here in the Bitterroot valley 2 seasons ago, and for those familiar with the area there is everything from little 1 acre homes/yards, larger farms/ranches and everything in between. Almost all private. I was all over the...

    Deer Neck Meat

I take the time to trim it all up and save for grinding. I like to have plenty of meat around for grinding, not only for burger but I make brats, texas style hot links, breakfast sausage, Italian sausage, bulk kielbasa, summer sausage, etc.

HB 243 - Mandatory In-Person Field Day for Hunters Ed

I am all for in person class and field day but what I would really love to see is legit funding go to FWP so they can hire paid positions for hunter education/safety, to run classes, seminars, safety training, etc., all year long and quit relying on volunteers. Everyone that complains about...

    Old powder cans

You didn't miss read it and knowing the internet for what it is, i knew someone would call that out as soon as i decided to post a picture, lol. That tag was hand written by the wife who was running the garage sale, when she marked it to sell on the behalf of her husband. There was also some...

    Old powder cans

Went to a garage sale this past summer to look at a chainsaw, ended up coming home with an unopened can of Hercules Reloader 22 powder. My 7mm likes the current Alliant reloader 22 so am hopeful the old Hercules and newer RL-22 are close to the same. Will find out at some point.

FWP Commission to change Gardiner Elk hunting

Someone already posted a link above to the FWP public comments and near as I could tell, going through the ones that were published in the document, every one related to the 313 topic was in support. Makes me wonder how/what comments get published to that document.

Bullets for 7mm Rem Mag 1-9 1/2 twist

Take it for what it's worth. My 7mm, 26 inch 1-9 barrel shoots the 150 ttsx and 160 accubond, well. Not factory ammo, hand loads. Going to try hammers once I get closer to running out of the bullets I have.

    Rotator cuff surgery

Had two tears and the biceps done on my left shoulder a year ago this coming week. If I remember right I was first able to shoot my bow in July/August and those first attempts were brutal, just no strength in that bow arm/shoulder. Ended up in decent shooting shape by the season but not to the...

    243 and H1000

Have had good luck with RL 17 in my son's .243 and 80 grain TTSX bullets.

    Another fine quality Vortex Diamondback…

I must be in the minority here with Vortex. I have an HS LR scope on my 7mm that has been on the gun a few years. It's a now discontinued model but it has been great. Also have a diamondback scope on a .243 that my 11 year old son is shooting, so far after the last two years, it has been fine...

    Uff da! Spoilt meat.

With all that is going on in this country and world you have to pile this on top of everything else that needs to be worried about?lol I am on way to check the freezers now and look into this remote freezer temp monitoring. I would probably need therapy if my freezers died and everything...

Dog got sprayed by a skunk

When my lab got it a few years back we did 2 rounds with the Natures Best Skunk odor remover with lots of rinsing, then went in for a heavy dose of Dawn dish soap, baking soda and hydrogen peroxide and tons of rinsing as we went really heavy with the dish soap. To protect the wife and I from...

    Shiras moose caliber

I can tell you that a properly placed 225grain TTSX from my .338RUM was all it took on my moose in 2019. Having said that I basically flipped a coin between that and my 7mm as I would have been just as confident with either, if I did my part as the shooter.
