    MKC vs Eastmans?

At the risk of facing the shooting gallery here, I will say I have three of their knives. I have had them for a bit now. Two paracord handle models and one with a regular handle. I have had no issues with any of them and all have treated me well dealing with game animals. The two with the cord...

    FWP lies about Corner Crossing

I can see both sides of this issue. First, public having access to public, pretty straight forward. On the other side I can see where private property owners don't want it because folks won't do the right thing and stay on public. There are instances of the latter happening all the time where...

The classic magnums - will they see a renaissance?

Love my 7mm rem mag. Been passed down through the family since the 60's and I have had it for years now, from my father. Had it rebarrelled 5 years ago or so and it flat out shoots. Current load is 160 accubond. Not light to carry by any means but it just flat out gets the job done. Had my 14...

    243 energy

My son who is 13 now has been killing deer with a Browning micro midas 243 since he was 10. Started with ttsx hand loads and now shooting Accubond handloads that I prefer. At reasonable distances it is deadly with the Accubond bullets.

    .243 load recommendations

Late to the game. Have a Browning micro midas in .243 that my son shoots and I have had great success with Rl-17 using both Barnes ttsx and Nosler Accubonds.

Starting reloading - what to get next?

If you are going to be in it for the the long haul and can afford it, buy nice stuff and be done with it. I know most of us can't and I am one of them but if you can, do it, will save time and messing around in the long run. Really good accurate auto throwing scale setup is so nice to have, as...

    7 rem mag 160 accubond with h1000

Agree here if you happen to have some or can find it. It's been my go to with my 7mm and 160 accubonds.

    243 powder recommendation?

Latest load, I am using RL-17.

    Tipping Hammers

That would not surprise me. This 3100-3200 I am getting with my sons gun is a Browning micro midas with a 20 inch barrel.

Tell me about your obscure cartridge

338 RUM. If you don't reload, good luck. Was on the hunt for brass a few years back and every gun show I went to I was pretty much told I was looking for the one thing I wouldn't find anywhere. That has changed a little bit now that Atlas Development Group makes the brass but it is out of stock...

    Tipping Hammers

Saw .243 mentioned and can say that at least in the .243 I got for my 12 year old son, that 42.2 grains of Rl-17 and an 80 grain ttsx is a bit over 3100fps.

Priced Out of Replacement Blade Knives

They are not cheap but after gutting, quartering and carcass trimming three deer just recently, with the same Montana Knife Company knife and not resharpening I would recommend what they make.

    Best backcountry bone saw

I am all for weight savings, don't get me wrong but i'm starting to be convinced that the folks cutting half the tooth brush handle and skimping on TP are the same ones who are carrying the lower leg/hooves out of the woods. As for the topic, I have used a few to include a Gerber and Kershaw.

    Win .243 Ammo Suggestions Please

Got my son a .243 for his first hunting rifle. Worked up a load with the 80 gr ttsx that has been working well.

This is your property classification and appraisal notice

You are correct, after 8th grade they will go to Stevi or Florence. My son goes to Lone Rock.

    UTV Tire Chains

Once the snow shows up and the ice starts, my older RZR 800 has chains on all 4's for the duration of the winter. Pretty much needed for plowing when things get icy and really helps when you get off the beaten path.

    Cost of powder.

Found a site just the other day that had RL-22, which I have been looking for. When you added up the price, hazmat and shipping, came out to right at $60/lb. I said no thanks at that price. $75/lb for the RL-26, discussed here, is just insane.

7 mag Barnes 150 TTSX Anyone load this?

That is my current go to bullet with my 7mm. 3037 fps with 63gr of RL-22. Very accurate out of my gun. Found this load to be very consistent and accurate so haven't really pushed for more speed.

Have you ever been accused of..

Wouldn't call it a peeping tom situation but kind of. Had a mule deer tag here in the Bitterroot valley 2 seasons ago, and for those familiar with the area there is everything from little 1 acre homes/yards, larger farms/ranches and everything in between. Almost all private. I was all over the...
