Having applied unsuccessfully 42 years for an Oregon bighorn tag, I finally got to shoot some Oregon bighorns....with my camera!
Last December on the Lostine Divide in Northeast Oregon.
I was asked to build a set of arrows for the Granite Mountain Hotshots memorial Benefit Banquet to be held August 29, 2013.

Day 1 My friend Rick, his dog Sienna, and I left Timberline Lodge at 6:30am, heading west. The vista's to the south were splendid with fog filling the mountain valleys and the high meadows filled with wildflowers. We made it to Bald Mountain by 5:30pm...tired, sweaty, but in good spirits...
One of our local doe's finally brought her fawn back to the yard to show him/her off yesterday. Mom was busy feeding on the salad, and baby was busy feeding on mom!
I was up checking trailcams Monday morning and saw a doe with the smallest fawn I've ever seen...maybe all of a day old, more likely hours old. He/she kind of got high centered in some sticks while crossing the ditch, but mom was waiting patiently for her baby.
This hunt took place in northeast Oregon, about 400 miles from where Joe killed his monster blacky.
Never really had time or much interest for hunting and killing bears, but with more time on my hands these days I decided to see what all the hubbub is about.
My brother Roger and I drew tags...
Found this 75 to 80 inch blacktail shed last week. I actually have a left antler off this same buck from 3 years ago...so now I have a matched set from the buck (almost) ! ;)
This is the antler from a couple years ago...
Here's a trailcam pic I got of the buck packing his antlers a...

A lady in Washington asked if I could build some arrows for a Cub Scout Arrow of Light Award ceremony. After doing a little research and experimentation I came up with these for the boys. They mounted the arrows on some wood rounds, still waiting for photos of the finished award.

Made these for a guy in Minnesota and are going in the mail this morning. He wanted 1/2 dozen bright yellow and 1/2 dozen of my naturals. Hope his buddies don't give him a hard time about having Green Bay colors on his arrows! :)
Went shed hunting Monday and hiked my butt off! But I found a decent brown 4pt....and I also found an old 4pt that I would normally leave in the woods, but something about it just clicked, so I kept it.
Here's a seriously funky shed my buddy found.
So I get home and look...
Here's some trailcam video I stitched together of bucks rubbing their antlers and depositing scent all over the area. They hit these old USFS road signs at times, but really started pounding them after I started peeing on them. Just click on the pic to play...
Wasn't sure where to post this video, so please move if it's in the wrong forum.
This was a series of trailcam videos I got last September. Finally figured out how to stitch them together. There were still photos and short delays between the clips, so it isn't continuous. The bull starts out...
While shed hunting we'd been locating an area where a lion or lions had been clobbering a wintering deer herd.
Yesterday my friend and I went in there and using blacktail distress sounds from his FoxPro, this big tom came sneaking in after 40 minutes of calling and waiting. I spotted him...
