So far his PT has been excellent. His PT played college football and tore both his ACLs, so knows both sides of it. Lucky to have him. We went out to ND pheasant hunting last weekend. Update: he is rarely using crutches now. Still in some pain, especially at night, but making slow progress. PT going well. They said he is ahead of schedule. Our 8 month old lab is confused why she can't be near him. I feel bad for her, but she could step in the wrong place, bump him, etc.- MNElkNut

Interesting comment on regaining flexion. She has his brace locked straight for now. Although he starts PT tomorrow. I bet they flex that sucker tomorrow!!- MNElkNut

Funny you say that. He is a triple jumper. He can dunk a basketball (he is 5'11") leaving off his left, but not his right. He tore the right. So this may be an opportunity to strengthen that leg which would greatly help his 3rd phase in the triple jump.- MNElkNut

What if you swing your arms over a private city lot as you turn the corner, wouldn't that be trespassing and NOT covered by the UIA? I am quite confident Eschelman has never done that! -

Surgery was less than 3 weeks from when he tore it. The pain seems to come in waves. Standing up seems to alleviate it. He is going to bed now. Could be a long night. Loaded up with his favorite snacks, TV remote in hand, splurged and bought him a Naked juice drink. He can’t get comfortable and it aches quite a bit. This is kinda like a live hunt, only this is a live ACL experience.- MNElkNut

Back home from surgery now. Very minor meniscus tear. Surgeon said he can put weight on it but no bending. Quite a bit of pain.- MNElkNut

Recovering from an awful hunting season
As others have said; practice. Also, Develop a mental checklist for your shot process. Replay it in your mind many times prior to going out. Force yourself to use the process on game. As someone said, hunt squirrels or any other game. You have a good attitude!- MNElkNut

I have always hated that saying too. There is nothing wrong with changing your expectations during a hunt. Could go up or down. Shoot what you want at the time. What you learn if you spend enough time hunting wild game
I have learned I really enjoy actually hunting. I think a lot of people hunt for meat, horns, glory, whatever, but they don't really enjoy the hunting part. I do. I love it.
