Listen to parts 1 & 2 of this. Some good advice. https://podcasts.google.com/?feed=aHR0cDovL2ZlZWRzLnNvdW5kY2xvdWQuY29tL3VzZXJzL3NvdW5kY2xvdWQ6dXNlcnM6MTYwNzcyNjAzL3NvdW5kcy5yc3M%3D&episode=dGFnOnNvdW5kY2xvdWQsMjAxMDp0cmFja3MvNTc4NDQyNTQw
First lite stuff is basically the only stuff my wife has found to fit and function well. Most of the other stuff is "pink'd" and fairs poorly at anything other than posing for pictures (especially here in Alaska). She is an XS and most brands don't go below a size small which in hunting...
Been wearing a pair of the Grand Dru's for about a month now. I work on a mountain and have been wearing them pretty steadily while at work when it hasn't been too hot (for Alaska). I'm usually between a size 10 and 10.5 so I was thrilled to see they came in a size 10-1/3. Work consists of heavy...
Not really anything all that close. He was a beefy ram but I think he looks a bit larger when laying next to my wife. She's pretty petite (5'-100lbs). Here's another shot with me sitting next to him. He certainly wasn't easy to get positioned for photos or butchering.
Pretty stoked. My wife was able to take a nice full curl ram on a our week long DIY hunt in the Alaska range last week.
My wife and I moved up to Alaska 3 years ago from SW Montana and last year she drew a good Caribou tag and she was able to take a nice bull.
This year she drew a Tok Mgmt...
Might be worth a fly over to scout it out. Can't hunt the same day of course, but at least you'll have a good place to start. Those drainages are pretty rugged.
Right on Dave. Did you hit the slopes as well? Or at least take a tram trip to the top? I work at Alyeska so if your ever in G-wood again drop me a note and I'll give you a tour of the ski hill.
DC827? My wife drew that tag last year and we hiked in, shot a bou around 1pm, and were back at the rented cabin by 9pm, went back for round 2 of packing on day 2, out by 3 pm, and eating dinner at the resturant at 5pm. Pretty sweet hunt. Weather couldn't of been better. Frosty and clear (so no...
Damn TB! You get it done! Those photos are sweet. I really like the Ram heads holding up Johnny. And it ain't too often you see elk racks on the deck of a boat.....in the ocean.
My wife and I moved up here two years ago from Big Sky, Montana. We elk hunted a bunch in Montana and logisticly the hunting here is more difficult. It is possible to hunt ptarmigan and spruce grouse after work as well as black bears (remember the days get pretty long). The fishing is great and...
Thanks for the advice and tips guys. Bambistew I'm pretty sure we've chatted before if you're the same Bambistew from AKoutdoorforum. If so I really appreciate the info and advice you sent me. I'm hoping the mild winter will have bolstered the full curl numbers. My wife loved elk hunting while...
My wife is on a lucky streak. She drew a Tok sheep tag this year and closed on a nice bull caribou last year in a Draw only area. Pretty stoked for our first sheep hunt to be in such a great area. Booked our flight with 40 mile and getting geared up. Upping the weekly vertical to 4k a week...
Drew a 798-15 archery in the breaks. I have no clue about that area. I've been hunting the Big Sky area since I moved here in 03. If anyone has some insight, beta, or advice on hunting there I sure would apreciate it. I'm a solid hiker/mtn biker so I ain't sceered of a climb. I don't have any...
