He was a short bull with nice mass. He was 32"x7.5" bases. Saw several bigger but seeing and shooting are two different things. Lol
The bullet was a 168 grain Nosler Accubond LR out of a 7mm STW. Traveling around 3150 fps. Not very satisfied with what was left of that bullet around 78 grains...
I've killed elk, moose, caribou, that probably ranked as my top three. It's better than all those. I'd say somewhere between beef and moose to me. Just a nice texture to it and no smell really to be had while processing. Kinda odd considering they survive in the desert in such a dry environment.
Just returned from my OIL Oryx hunt in New Mexico. The hunt was much tougher than I anticipated. Those animals are much like pronghorn in a lot of ways. Seems they loved to get out there between 500-700 yards and move as you move along.
I ended up shooting my bull at just over two hundred yards...
The fishing continued in 2025. Had a really good walleye year. Several sizable fish in March were had. Still eating it once a week since. Two packs left going to be sad next week
Pretty quite year here. I need that after the grandson and I drew 6 tags this year and have been on overload.
Planning on a wilderness Colorado elk hunt at high elevation, I will apply for NM probably and hope for some love, and as always try to burn my MT goat and sheep points.
I had numerous people approach me while armed as a LEO and guess what not one of them died. Many of them with ill intentions or mentally unstable as well. I side with the NRA's statement. But we will not see an unbiased investigation into this shooting IMO if the FBI handles the investigation...
