Dreaming of huge elk

Idaho Weiser Zone
Idaho elk I haven't hunted that area , but last year we were in the sawtooth region and heard exactly the same thing, even from the rangers. I was able to get an archery elk tag in unit 51 , new mexico this year. Wondered if anyone is familiar with the area and could start me in the right area.
