How many of ya'll hunt Coyotes year round? If not why not? Should we? I normally stop hunting the end of may when the calves, kids and lambs are big enough to take care of themselves. Losing one calf cost about $400-600, one kid is about $70-90 and one lamb can go up to 3-400 bucks counting...

Favorite caliber for coyotes and bobcats

I generally use a 22-250AI with a 60 grain vmax or a 75 grain amax out to bout 350-400 yards. If I think I will be shootin beyond that, as in across wheat fields, I switch to my 6.5-06AI with 95 grain vmax. Since cats usually come in closer I use a 12ga loaded with BB's or #4 buck.

For those who shoot the 22-250 AI I thought ya'll might be interested in the results of some test I ran using the Hornady 60 grain Vmax and 75 grain Amax. All loads were developed using a Rem 700 with a Shilen SS select match barrel with a 1-9 twist that is 25 inches. All loads were weighed...

    Have you ever seen this?

I have been hunting coyotes and other things for over 40 years and last Sunday afternoon I had a first. We were glassing a Mesquite flat for Turkeys and saw movement about 300 yards away. Took a look and it was a coyote moving her pups from a den under a big rock to another one about 100 yards...
