Where are we going, and why are we in this handbasket?

How much is the RNC paying you?

    Changes to ESA rules

And that changed to a neutral position. I am FAR closer to it it than you are! What do you know about his lieutenant governor and her views and influence on this? And is it your opinion that wolves should immediately be hunted if they are delisted? And what would the purpose of hunting be...

    Changes to ESA rules

Walz and the state cant do anything until the feds delist them, which they wont because its MN. And he changed course long ago, after that old piece you posted. As noted Klobuchar will be our next governor...Trump all but locked that up when he came out to support the My Pillow idiot...who...

    Changes to ESA rules

Interesting. MN has had far more Wolves than recovery goals for decades longer than any western state has for Griz I believe. Has any westeen state met and exceeded Griz goals for 40 years? We've had a management plan in place for years as well --that will kick in as soon as managenent gets...

    Changes to ESA rules

I and my colleagues made this case for years: the work to keep a species viable and away from listing consideration is minor in comparison to what you are forced into once a species is listed.

    Changes to ESA rules

Common species whose population is not threatened by human actions have less...or zeto...need to work across state lines. Having worked in that arena for decades, I can say we didnt work across state lines to coordinate with neighbors on regulations for species that arent rare. Kind of...

    Changes to ESA rules

Paying attention to and making sure we implemented both state and federal laws related to rare species was something I dealt with over 3+ decades. What I think many dont realize is how much overlap there is in habitat needs between species we hunt and rare species. Common to see overlap. And...

    Changes to ESA rules

Yes and no. Part of the rationale for the ESA is that species cross boundaries, and population recovery requires consideration across their current and potential range.

    Changes to ESA rules

Environmental law is sure shaping up to be a busy field to work in!

    Changes to ESA rules

And perhaps the clearest threat...doing harm to the habitat ESA species need is no longer going to be considered a take.

    Conservation or Big Beautiful Ballrooms?

There were millions lost...and some of it recovered...in MN. Some was sent overseas and is likely lost forever. Not nearly as much as Shirley and his ilk claim though. The story behind it is a lot more instructive and complex than the politically useful narative republicans are parroting...

Anybody Buying Yet? Where’s the Bottom?

I admit to being influenced by the past. Once when younger had a lot of money in a tech fund that screamed up for a few years. Lost half of it in a major crash and noticed I would have been money ahead with a more conservative diversified ...but still growth focused...position. Will a lot...

    Conservation or Big Beautiful Ballrooms?

Whataboutism.... FWIW I do not support that pardon but the details...including pleas from the victim for a pardon that are well known here (but you wont hear from far right sources) muddy the waters. At the least it was politically stupid, and they (it wasnt Walz alone making the decision)...

Just KTA or give him money. Works like a charm.

    Conservation or Big Beautiful Ballrooms?

In MN...ground zero for pandemic fraud if you believe the MAGA party...they have dropped cases and let people go. Missing deadlines, not complying with orders... So many federal lawyers quit. Judges are ripping Trumps Justice department a new one. Seems like every month Trump is pardoning...

Forest Service Reorg - Progress or Politics

Nah. There is and will remain ample public evidence of their intent to use. And the impacts of what they have already done will be more visible as time goes on...and will last for quite a while. "Remember MAGA"? Will be useful for decades...

    Bison Incident in Yellowstone

Back to reality. Reports say the guy was 2 to 3 times the recommended distance away. Keep in mind video and camera shots can distort actual distance. I probably wouldn't have stood and stared at a bull like he did that was staring right at me--but can't expect most folks to know that might...

    Bison Incident in Yellowstone

I won't touch that one with a ten inch pole....

Forest Service Reorg - Progress or Politics

Something to look forward to...from my perspective, the dedicated NR professional working for people who work against the interests of the resource can be just as if not more effective after they retire--by getting active in advocacy and politics...not partisan per se, pro NR politics.

Anybody Buying Yet? Where’s the Bottom?

Bogle never envisioned this! I look at it this way. The risk averse investor can get their tech exposure in broad index funds now. But they can no longer put all their money in them.
