    Trapping Thread 2026/2027

I’ve only made mittens, coozies, and am in the middle of a blanket project. I’m hoping to get time to try a couple hats this winter and my wife wants a fur vest. The problem is finding the time.

    Trapping Thread 2026/2027

Beaver mittens are great. Light, super warm, and easy to slip on and off. I like wearing light merino gloves underneath for ice fishing. The key is to actually use them and not baby them. The fur won’t wear out so if the leather does, you just rebuild them. I just finished up my buddy’s the...

    2026-2027 Upland Bird Thread

Dewey is a French Brittany. Don’t let his looks fool you. He’s a little meth head. Wonderfully kind dog, though.

    2026-2027 Upland Bird Thread

On the board here. Still lots of standing corn around and I could hear roosters cackling from it the whole time I was hunting. It’ll get real good when that comes out.

Fly Tiers - Wood Duck Flank

I was the lucky recipient of a free jacket posted on this site so I’d like to do someone a favor. I shot a pair of woodies this morning. They had beautiful flank feathers so I saved them. If anyone wants them for tying flies, shoot me a message. I’ll mail them out for free.

    Trapping Thread 2026/2027

Anything in the water is fun, especially once it freezes. Otters are my favorite with beavers being second. Hard to beat a trip to chase cats or marten, but I always have a few 330s with to set good water, if I see it.

    Trapping Thread 2026/2027

No trapping here yet, but I finally got the last pelts back I needed to start finishing up my otter blanket. Pelts are sewn together. Time to start working on the backing. I also just finished a nice pair of beaver mittens for my fishing buddy to surprise him with on our Canada laker trip...

    2026-2027 Upland Bird Thread

Pheasant opener this weekend here and we have tons of birds, but hunting in 85 degrees isn’t very appealing. I’ll wait until it cools off. Crops are coming out in a hurry right now so it’s only going to get better.

    More opinions

I agree with that though, I’d say, there’s always the chance the truth comes out and they’re set free. Once they’re dead, it’s a little late. I understand arguments for both sides of this debate. I don’t think, however, there’s a good argument for a public execution.

I don’t see how it could result in anything positive. It won’t be a deterrent and could certainly inspire more extremism.

    Monthly budget

From my research, a level 2 charger at 32 amps would add about 20-30 miles per hour. That would very safely cover my wife’s commute each day.

    Monthly budget

I have a 240 circuit in the garage that I think is 30 amps. The garage service is 60 amps and all I run in it is LED lights and overhead door openers. I think I could wire in a 40 amp charger pretty easily. I’d have to double check the wiring.

    Monthly budget

I have 240 in my garage right now. I think 30 amp. I’d have to verify, it might be more.

    Monthly budget

I think break-even would be immediate, unless gas prices drop considerably. If a big repair pops up on the Sienna, we’d be ahead with the EV. But, so far the van has been great. I’ve been able to do all the maintenance and repair, other than a water pump I didn’t have time to tackle. And...

    Monthly budget

I think I have those pretty accurately figured into the $300/mth savings over the Sienna. She burns quite a bit of gas.

    Monthly budget

So, this thread got me thinking a bit, and that’s usually not a good thing. With my wife’s daily commute, an EV would save us (between gas and regular maintenance) about $300-$350 per month, given current fuel prices, vs driving her 2017 Sienna with 180k miles on it. Probably a bit less than...

    Thanksgiving Weekend Bird Hunt?

It’s not SD by any means, but you’ll find birds in Minnesota. I don’t recall ever seeing this many in my lifetime and I’m in the south metro “poor” area.
