Bozeman: is it really that bad anymore?

    Has to be.

Is your mall crawler ready to go?

I like it. Jig saw'd the valence on my '17 while it was in place, no regrets there. My 6.2 has never sniffed 14 mpg for a tank, much less 16.something.

Poll - One all around single cartridge under conditions

Chamberings are more alike than different, and I'd do everything you mentioned with every chambering you mentioned without second thought. Given that you already have the rifles, I'd let how you like shooting the rifle decide.

    Robert Redford has died

Butch Cassidy is my second favorite movie. Redford and Newman in period costume come off a lot better than a couple of hipsters dressed up like them modern day at a show at the Filler.

    Gopher of a Lifetime

My old boss in the coal mine, Rusty McHenry, almost got divorced over his use of a 12 gauge on a rat in the kitchen.

Get away from the keyboard and to the range challenge.

Just read this today, I erroneously assumed you used the same stages as bluumoon or I would have participated. I’m full speed ahead finishing a house and moving by Friday, so I’ll have to sit this one out. I think friendly competitions like this are good practice.

Shooting fast, is more important than shooting far.

I’m interested, and most people are visual learners. You should post a video. I can help if you need tech support.

Shooting fast, is more important than shooting far.

Start - binos up - identify target - binos down - unsling and raise rifle - hit target offhand in a 6 moa group - regularly in 3 seconds. This I gotta see. Really. I’d LOVE to see you or someone else do this.

    Are suppressors over rated?

Foamies CAN be decent, they are rarely worn in a way that gets the full rated protection. I still wear something for protection at the range (usually the earbuds I wear at work) when shooting suppressed rifles. Hunting I don’t worry about it.

    Are suppressors over rated?

That’s rough! I’ve taken piles of centerfire shots without ear pro, and a handful of them were with a brake. My hearing is compromised, but mild compared with what you describe. If my kids screw up their hearing, it won’t be because I didn’t warn them or give them the tools to protect it.

    Are suppressors over rated?

I use both silencers and loundeners. Both have their place for me for the time being, but I anticipate the new generation of suppressors combined with brakes may eliminate my use of traditional brakes. Suppressors do have their drawbacks, and I was really slow to get on board vs those in my...

How Far is Too Far? Wyoming Legislature Mulls Shot Distance Restrictions

A lot of people are shooting beyond their capabilities today. A lot of people shot beyond their capabilities in the past, but the distances were lower numbers. I think people should be more responsible with the shots they choose to take, and I’m 100% opposed to a government choosing for them.

The classic magnums - will they see a renaissance?

The laser rangefinder was THE piece of technology that has driven so many of the meaningful changes in the precision rifle landscape. I’d rather use 100+ year old chamberings and modern bullets than modern chamberings and bullets from even 50 years ago. Fortunately, I’m not forced to choose :)

The classic magnums - will they see a renaissance?

I doubt they’ll go away for a long time, but in my specific niche of the shooting world they’re nearly dead already. I’d estimate belted magnums represent 1-2% of the center fire rifles I see in use.

    Old vs New Chronograph Technology

These are the chronographs I trust enough to use velocity data instead of shooting drops at range and back calculating: Garmin Magnetospeed Labradar Well set up Ohler Some of the other new radar based ones may be trustworthy but I’ll hold off until I see plenty of data come in. Other...
