It depends if you can find a replacement. You could have a custome one made but not sure it would be worth it.
How bad is the stock. A lot of people have reconditioned their stocks to be almost new. I’ve reconditioned two of my old stocks. There are videos out how to do it.
Dents can be...
I would keep an eye out for a Howa 1500. The Houge stock ones used to be around $500. Not sure now. Also check Gun Brooker for used options.
You mentioned not wanting it. However, I’ve been shocked at how accurate my wife’s Rugar American is.
Not very many pass through with V max. I used to use 55 grain regularly. I currently shoot 55 grain Nosler BT but haven’t shot a coyote yet. If you have them already can try them on a coyote first before investing in Vmax.
I would be a bit more confident with the Nosler on a wolf than the...
@MTLabrador You can do what you want with a 3/4 hp grinder. Larger sizes will grind faster. Also most grinders you are supposed to stop after so many minutes of run time to allow to cool.
Most grinders have their pounds per minute as a reference. It wouldn’t be bad for you to step up to a...
My dad had a load in his 308. 165 grain Accubond with BLC2. Was accurate in his rifle and was near max load. I killed my first elk and many white tails with it. He killed many bucks and a couple elk.
He now uses a healthy loading of Varget with Berger 168 gr VLD Hunter. Very tight groups...
One risk is if it doesn’t have enough power to grind cleanly. Hate to make mush that is poor texture.
Make sure it is nothing that would get past the seal on the drive and that it has enough power to grind.
Luckily Waltons is having some sales if you want. Cabelas and other places as well.
Second to last day to hunt. Passed on several does and small bucks earlier in the season. Last light was able to fill my tag. 1 shot 200 yards. 270 Winchester 129gr LRX. Thankful for the opportunity.
check the chamber and see if there is a build up or deposit of anything. Many people may clean the bore but never the chamber. Also many people’s “cleaning” is not very effective.
I would try tumbling before pitching the brass. How old is the rifle? I wouldn’t expect it but if it is an old...
I’ve used the caribou game bags on many deer, elk, and a moose. Very happy with them.
I’ve tried the go hunt bags. I like their handles. I wish their elk set had a Medium bag for loose meat instead of a small.
The caribou are looser on the meat. I like that it doesn’t press contamination...
I generally recommend grinding twice. Once through a course plate then through a finer plate. Depending on the size of your grinder the course would be 8 to 10 mm.
The fine depends on what you want and the product you’re making. Commercially we use a 1/8” plate for burger and 3/16” for...
They would be fast and flat. My only concern would be them coming apart with the high velocity. Personally I would either go with a harder bullet like a partition or something bonded. Or I would step up to a little heavier bullet.
having said that I don’t think there would be any problem...
I’ve done the flavored instant mashed potatoes on a couple fishing trips. Split with a friend for a side to go with fish. We also watered it down to make a backcountry soup with cooked trout in it.
You could try instant rice with some bullion to flavor it and whatever else.
I will sometimes...
