    2026 WY Veteran’s hunt?

I’d love to participate as a hunter, being 100% T&P rated. Only catch is I don’t have any family in WY, so I’m a little SOL on that front.

    Grouse! Let’s See Them

Just bagged my first one tonight! Took it with my Rossi brawler. Carrying this thing when deer hunting finally paid off hahaha.

Ask your onX Hunt questions here!

Question: The “no public access” in this parcel; does that apply to the entire property, or just to the road? I’ve never seen this marking before. Generally this timber co is open to access, and the way it snakes along the road makes me think it’s talking about the road exclusively.

Poll - One all around single cartridge under conditions

Chose the 6.5CM because of the mention of shoulder issues. That said, 308 & 6.5CM are the only two on that list that I’ve shot, so they’re the only two I could really speak to.

    Antique gun display

Man, if I wanted to be single again, this is how I’d do it. That room is awesome!

Oregon Elk Poachers Sept 6 2025

Sadly, even at $1000/ 4 pp, I doubt many will come forward with useful tips. Hope I’m wrong.

    Your Close Calls

I’ve used these ones for years to great effect so long as you’ve done the prep work with the kindling. They’re great because you don’t need an additional method to light them. https://a.co/d/5sHScFD

    Your Close Calls

Nearly impaled myself on a sharp limb of a fallen tree 2 years ago. I was still hunting through some reprod, the ground was covered in waist-high ferns; couldn’t really see when I was stepping. Predictably, I take a step and go right off a 3ish foot drop off. Get up and gather my senses and...

How heavy are your day packs?

Mine is about 15-20# and that stays pretty consistent. I’m rarely going more than 1.5-2 miles from the car, rather just walking closed logging roads until they deadend. So I only carry 1L of water, and have a life straw if things get that far. Shooting sticks, tripod chair, kill kit, headlamp...

Dog Broke Leg 7 Miles In

Hoping for a speed recovery for Boulder! But holy cow, covering 7 miles at 10?! My dogs are 10 & 11 and struggle to make it 1 mile through the neighborhood anymore.

    Leaving deer where they lay

Being a YouTuber doesn’t make them exempt from the law. Report them.

Good and bad days at the range

I’m figuring to look into a suppressor whenever the $200 tax stamp goes away. I think that’s after new years? Just as well, my barrel isn’t threaded and it’ll cost about $200 to get it done.

Good and bad days at the range

Sorry to revive an old thread, but just had this happen to me over the weekend. Nice to know I’m not alone. What I’ve found is after a certain round count, I’m just kinda shot out. My shoulder gets sore and I start anticipating the recoil, causing me to jerk the trigger. Also by time this is...

Heads up for 2025 Prince of Wales Blacktail hunters. Active proposals to close all of Unit 2 to non-qualified hunters. (aka all Non-Residents)

Hmmm, well I had been planning to do a blacktail hunt there in 26. Guess we’ll have to see where this goes.

    How long you got...

Well, fall bear kicks off on August 1st. I’ll get a tag, but don’t usually put in much effort expressly for fall bear. September is when grouse opens up, but I’ll be out of the country until the second week. It’s mostly deer scouting w/ a shotgun in hand. Then the big show in October for...

    Seizures in dogs

My pup has had them a few times, due to liver issues. We give him SAMe nightly, and that works for the most part. He’s had all of 3 throughout his life.

    Hunting Rifle LOP

There are grind to fit spacers out there, though 1.5” would need a lot of them stacked up.

Anyone own or shot the Taurus Judge?

I have a Rossi Brawler. Basically the bastard child of the judge and the tuffy. Probably the most fun I’ve ever had shooting a pistol, using that thing! If I didn’t already have it, however, I’d be looking into a judge. W/ 45lc it’ll put a hole where you point it. With #7 3” game loads, it’ll...

Newest US Senate Land Sale Amendment

Just saw this in the NYT “Senator Tim Sheehy, Republican of Montana, just announced that he will not vote in favor of opening debate on the bill — a key procedural vote to begin consideration of the legislation — unless party leaders take out a provision paving the way for the sale of public...
