Seeking HT Wisdom - Retirement Edition

Brent the McCabe chapter of the Ikes based in Duluth is outstanding. RGS--and PF--have really expanded their efforts beyond the tradtional too. Like BHA but currently having an odd issue just trying to join--can't do it online for some reason and messages haven't been returned. I probably...

Cook in the tent or no.

Portable bear fences are a great idea. Been reading about a young male in my state--well away from typical bear range--who's been hitting bee hives. We rarely hear about those problems anymore as most beekeepers have a fence around hives these days.

Seeking HT Wisdom - Retirement Edition

Congrats! My dreams, which might not work for everyone: Get your health right. Start to lose weight--coupled with a manageable diet, the wonder drugs out there today work great if you are well above where you should be. Any lingering issues figure out so you know what you are facing in...

Anybody Buying Yet? Where’s the Bottom?

How about solar, wind energy or other renewables at this point in time? Think they would beg to differ with you. Permanent--if you toss enough money at politicians to keep it that way, maybe.

    Rainy Lake in early July?

Been awhile but I think this still applies--don't neglect pike if you like fun! Caught 3 over 12 pounds in a few houseboat trips there and the ones about half that size were numerous. Spoons and big plugs--not musky size but bigger than average--were all it took. The bigger ones tended to be...

Anybody Buying Yet? Where’s the Bottom?

What about the elephant in the room? Can we bury the waste in Mike Lee's backyard?

    MALA and your money

Not to mention the fact that those we need to buy our products are looking more than ever at others for sourcing, and those who have bought our bonds are looking for other options as well.

    MALA and your money

Thanks Donald! But the reality is sure different as can be easily seen all over the country--as just about every newspaper has covered the impacts. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/06/us/north-carolina-medicaid-cuts.html...

    MALA and your money

This was a prescient post. Lots of info out there suggested many Republican legislators told Trump passing his bill would lead to their losing control of at least one and possibly both houses of Congress. Trump didn't care of course. Also Vance and others said right after it's passage that...

    Make America Beautiful Again EO

I think most get the debt issue. Selling public land to the foreigners is the head scratcher.

    Make America Beautiful Again EO

Not paranoid. There's a republican legislator in my state whose behavior and actions are a great example of how we need to be worried. Land sales is the tip of the iceberg..

    Retirement data

Recent but expected.. Had several advisors from major companies suggest a higher portion of foreign last fall. US market factors are very strong...policy and policy impact uncertainty has been holding them back.

    Retirement data

All payoff options should take interest rates into account. For example our mortgage is at 2.85%. No brainer that investing makes more sense than paying that off, with even conservative avg market return projections running much better than that rate.

    Retirement data

There's a law firm in my state that has specialized in suits against companies like yours. They are doing well...the class action employees not as well but they are seeing improvements in their plans going forward as a result. Bottom line...if all the choices in your plan have as high expense...

    Retirement data

For months now...you can figure out the timing....foreign has beat the pants off domestic. 2 to 3 times better returns than domestic. US dollar value has dropped to where it was in Nixon's day.

NRA response the US Public Land Sale

Then why did they work AGAINST taking the Heller case to the SCUS?

NRA response the US Public Land Sale

For me the issue is that NRA claims to only be about guns AND hunting use of guns but routinely shows it's highly partisan reality and routinely supports candidates who are horrible on conservation causes. To the best of my knowledge GOA sticks much closer to just being about guns and is not...

NRA response the US Public Land Sale

It's not just taking a cautious approach, time and again they have supported legislators who are anti conservation even though their opponent was just as good on guns. They did not support going forward with the case that led to solidifying the 2nd in the SCUS either. Left them long ago...

    More trouble in the legislature

No, decreasing in lower density areas is harder because of the crossbow law. The success rates with crossbow are very high in comparison with traditional archery as well. Crossbow harvest has increased over muzzleloader now. Whether that's a problem depends on perspective I suppose, but a...

    Primary mike lee?

Not directly familiar but much of the time on these issues they work hard through broad misinformation campaigns...with the aid of right leaning media programming focused more on agendas than accurate reporting....to build support for issues that people would not support if they understood real...
