Full on summer here. Tomatoes a-plenty, okra and beans looking good. Late planting of squash looking good too. Hopefully it produces better than the early planting has so far.
Didn't see that you had posted this when I posted. Trump isn't the reason Tillis isn't seeking reelection, he's the nail in the coffin. I mentioned yesterday that I didn't think his internals were looking good. He's not been a popular senator during his time in office. He was already going to...
Trump's been very unhappy with Tillis after his opposition to the BBB and vowed to primary him. Today Tillis announced he isn't seeking reelection. Makes sense as to why he found the nerve to include public land preservation into his stance at the end yesterday.
Nobody voted to strip the land sale from the BBB. Behind the scenes there were promises from the Rs mentioned in the thread that they would vote for an amendment to remove it so Lee himself ultimately pulled the section from consideration.
I've made plenty of calls to Tillis' office and not gotten any indication he cared about this issue, I would be elated to be proven wrong. His internals must be rough for next year.
Been making drain lines for the case conveyor at one plant the whole week. Probably 3 more weeks of on site work there. Boss and helper are gone though so I have the shop to myself today, working on a steam supply header.
Not voting for the guy promising to slash the budgets of the agencies geared toward helping in the situations you mentioned would be a good step toward solving those problems.
Looks like NC hunters finally made a big enough stink to make Budd release a statement, milquetoast and noncommittal as it is. Already seeing people in the local hunting/fishing groups planning to light him up for not being more strongly opposed.
A yardage cap is a hard thing to legislate for sure. Nothing is a substitute for personal ethics and standards, but I don't think the idea of legislating a maximum distance is out of the picture simply because it's difficult (near impossible) to enforce. Wildlife laws in general are difficult to...
I did manage to get the first tomato sandwich of the year before I left last week. Came back to things in pretty good shape. Managed to miss one zucchini before I left so it's massive. Things are starting to get dry here again. Next three days with highs above 98 and lows above 75. Gonna be...
I'm working the NC senators and reps but I have 0% confidence they'll care. Tillis is on the finance committee and also very likely going to get ousted next year. Budd's just a rubber stamp.
So close. I'm gone for a few days next week and I've got a feeling the tomatoes are gonna be spiteful and wait til then before I can have my mater sandwich. Late planting of squash, beans, and okra are all up now. Wildflowers blooming. Lots of peppers coming. Makes dealing with the hot, humid...
I started reloading because it was legal for me to buy a handgun from a private party at 18 but not legal to buy handgun ammo from a store until 21. Started loading handgun ammo to make things easier and eventually decided to try rifle ammo too. Nowadays a don't shoot handguns all that much so I...
