Gobble gobble Spring Turkey 2025
Seen about a dozen birds out in the fields this morning with all this rain. A couple toms strutting together in a group of 6 birds, guess they have one last day before tomorrow's open day here in NC. Thinking so wet everywhere they will hit the fields again tomorrow. I prefer hunting the woods...- buck23

Almost done with my son's first truck
He will enjoy that 93 4wd those ole Chevys last a very long time and not at all hard to work on either. The dash on that one is great shape they are usually cracked bad and expensive to replace. One of my hunting buddies has a 95 and I got a 91 both with the 5.7l good old 350 chevy. I'd drive it...- buck23

2023 Montana Mule Deer
Good looking buck MTLAB congrats on him. I too hunt with the old 270 shooting Nosler when I can get them. Nice pic too. -

What was your first big game rifle, and do you still have it?
Winchester 94 30-30 bought at 19 yrs old, saved up from working part time at a local service station. Sadly sold to buy a bolt action 270 that I still hunt with some times. -

NC Deer Load
I have had good accuracy with the SST in a 270 with 60 grains/H4831 and a 130gr. bullet. But they did more explosive damage and I did not find the good mushroom I prefer. I think it leaves a large exit hole sometimes. I guess I like the ole bullet found under the opposite shoulder deal and no... -

Had one back in the 80's too but couldn't afford the hand climber so hugged the tree and pulled up. Slide down hard a couple times also. Would stand up and hunt for hours back then hoping to see a deer. -

NC Deer Load
Shot the Nosler Partition for years and like the Accubond too. Mostly in 30 caliber but either will work fine in your guns. I've seen the SST make some big holes too I pass on those bullets. Good luck this season. -

2023 spring turkey!
Been on toms all season but mostly stayed 50-100 yards out. Finally had one gobbling on the roost and got set up and called and he came in strutting and gobbling. I guess he thought we might be on a tv show or something to play the game perfectly. Long beard #5 at 30 yards. Was a good hunt.- buck23

M1A Springfield
I like A-MAX bullet from Hornady I've loaded it for my bolt guns and semi-auto M14 type gun. Can't go wrong with Gold Medal either. Try to find the 7.62 nato loading Federal makes if you got a gi barrel that does right good out to 600. -

does anyone still hunt with ww1 or ww2 rifles
I bought 5 Turk Mausers back in the day for 19 bucks each and screwed on a Remington take off 270 barrel. Was a real easy conversion and shot a lot of game with it. I think the 375 would be difficult without a lot of effort. Standard 270/06/280/2506 all run real good plus cheap to shoot... -

Great looking place duckwrangler, I've hunted that river many times years ago, shot my only canvasback there. Was great when it got real cold. You got it set up right I bet you enjoy.- buck23
