In my opinion, changing the trails is not a dick move.
If they shoot everything in sight with no regards to well, anyone or anything, then on your land you have a right (I would almost say duty) to control what you can.
The easement could get pretty bad going that route, but you don’t have to...
Im using Barnes.
I’ve looked at hammers because everyone is talking about them, but I’m happy with what I’m using and they are less expensive.
I went from Accubonds to the ttsx’s and took a Buck this season with a 130 grain in my 308.
I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of damaged area around...
I have a Tikka T3x in .308 Win. Compact with a 20” barrel.
I absolutely love this rifle!
I’m shooting 130 grain ttsx and getting .270 speeds with them.
Muzzle velocity has been an average of 3170 fps with about a grain below max load.
I got the compact because I wanted a carbine sized rifle for...
As a Northeast flatlander, I fail to see how what you’ve shown in the pictures can be considered “failure”.
What a beautiful opportunity for you, and such a wonderful experience!
I handload Barnes 130 grain ttsx with 50.4 grains Ramshot TAC.
Muzzle velocity is an average of 3170 fps.
This is out of a 20” barrel.
Just a week ago I took a Buck at 270 yards ranged, and that load dropped him right in his tracks.
New York has been playing with non-lead on state lands, and...
If you handload, I found my recipe using Ramshot TAC. I tried Varget but couldn’t find a good group, and the velocity was less than the TAC.
There are many good options however.
I’m very happy with my results.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I voted 308 because that’s what I have, and I think that in second place is the 7-08.
During the end of the pandemic I could get 308 ammo, 7-08 (for me) was non-existent.
It also has the ability to load light to heavy bullets making it very versatile.
I hunt whitetails out to...
I would also suggest that you go light for caliber for your rifle.
120s instead of the 140s. You’ll get great speeds and their weight retention is so much better than lead.
I live in that state next to yours, that is offering the $60 rebate, and I’ve begun making the transition as I’m certain...
If you’ve found heavy trails, especially one going into and out of feeding areas, look for very slight trails that parallel them approximately 30-40 yards or so from them.
Those are the trails the bucks use to scent check the main trails.
You will also find these trails that parallel bedding and...
Range day yesterday.
160 FTX and Leverevolution powder, handloads.
Getting all the “tweaks” settled and a chance out to two hundred.
Bottom shot is with the top of the target resting on the bead, and the top two are with the bead resting on the top of the target.
I’m averaging around 2355 FPS...
