    Self defense pistol recommendations.

A good semiauto is 100% more reliable for maximum rounds between stoppages than a revolver, despite what many say… I can’t even tell you how many rounds I’ve put through Glocks with almost zero maintenance without malfunction. Many, many thousands. A good 1911 is up there too, they just need a...

    Battery Chainsaws

I have been casually looking for a battery saw for light camp firewood duties for a while, but next summer I also want to cut out an old trail into a spot I like archery hunting in that’s currently almost impossible to navigate with deadfall. I would just use my little Stilhl 170 for hiking...

    Self defense pistol recommendations.

I love revolvers, but when starting from the ground up I think it’s way easier to start with a good striker fired or SAO semiauto. I teach people to shoot often at work, sometimes people who have little to no prior experience with firearms, all with Glocks or M&Ps. I bet the average shooter...

    Tipi style wall tent?

That little blackstone grill is awesome. I loved mine this week.

    Self defense pistol recommendations.

Glock 9mm without a doubt. One of these two is pretty much always with me. G43X and G45. I carried the G45 all last week in some bad grizzly country too.

    6.5 Creedmoor Peak

I busted my ass all week trying to kill a decent bull while packing a .270 Win. It would have done the job pretty nicely if things had aligned on the only bull I saw. Only shot I fired all week was from a pistol. Ruger single six dispatching a mouse that was raiding the wall tent. Dropped him...

    Cast & Blast, and Blast

Excellent trip, questionable choice in beer. Chukar, steelhead, and whitetails cancels that out though.

Is your mall crawler ready to go?

Loaded and ready with the whole saloon. I’ll have to fill the empty space with firewood and more beer.

    Antelope horn shedding

No idea, but I was on my way back from hunting elk a couple years ago when a buck crossed the road in front of my and lost this while crossing the fence. It was cool to watch.

    Sunday Pic of the Day

I do. It’s just sitting there, not strapped in.

Lunch break in miles and miles of deadfall.

    Trying new rifles this season

Bring back the old 700s, blue jeans, and wall tents…

    Skull Cleaning PSA

Do you rot the horn sheaths off by sealing them up in a bag for a few days before boiling or use another method? Seems like that would really get the brains moving.

    Cow elk rifle

The SSTs aren’t too bad, especially in the heavier for caliber bullets. Similar to the core lokts, interlocks, etc. I’ve used. I haven’t tried monos in the centimeter, but I’d like to try the Lehigh monos.

    Cow elk rifle

Bull elk rifle this coming week has been decided. Tikka 270 win with 150 grain SSTs. The real question is the backup bear pistol. Glock 10mm with 200 grain hard casts? Glock 9mm with 147 hard casts or 147 gold dots? Tisas 9mm 1911 with the same? Smith .44 with 240 hard casts? Only time will tell…

    Eastern MT/WY Orbs

I was up in the Ferris Mountains in central WY after dark, a long ways from anywhere. My initial thought was that I missed the WW3 news and they were ballistic missiles.

    Yellowstone winter tours?

I’m like a kid in a candy store in the park. They’ll love it.

    Yellowstone winter tours?

The Mammoth hotel is a pretty cool place to stay in the winter as well. Go take a drive through Lamar in an afternoon and look at some big bulls and sheep.
