    World Cup 2026 starting today

England aren't exactly great at taking losing either. Jude Bellingham coming up from behind and hitting the smallest Argentinian on the head after the game could easily have started a brawl, but Argentina were smart enough to not get involved, and realized he just couldn't take losing...

    World Cup 2026 starting today

4-0 to England at half time. England have found the key to success - just drop Kane and Bellingham. Seriously though, it appears to be a case of a team that coming 3rd means something to, and a team that it means nothing to. Maybe England win 10-0 and Fifa finally figures out that 3rd place...

    World Cup 2026 starting today

The lineups for the 3rd place game are funny. Kane and Mbappe, and a bunch of backup players from each team. Two guys chasing the top scorer award, in a meaningless game, against a B team. Being top scorer in the world cup only means something if you also win the competition.

    World Cup 2026 starting today

I said that they were big favorites against Argentina, which they were with all the betting organizations. Also most of the British media/pundits were talking about how easy Argentina would be to beat, predicting wins by 2 or 3 goals. Now that they lost, it's being blamed on the coach. I'm...

    World Cup 2026 starting today

England were big favorites today and lost. They were lucky to beat some weak teams in the playoffs, now they were playing the world champions, and yet for some reason England were favorites. Argentina could have scored 5 or 6. Argentina did England a favor today, knocking them out before...

    World Cup 2026 starting today

I've been watching world cups since 1970, and in my opinion the quality of the teams has dropped off over the last decade. Not that it isn't entertaining, just lacking quality. I'm not sure many of the European players would have made their national teams in the past, and maybe one of the...

USFS bid to salvage log windfall in Idaho and Montana

Dern draw was one of the areas I had looked at.

USFS bid to salvage log windfall in Idaho and Montana

A lot of blowdowns in NW Montana. Some of the worst damage was to areas that were logged last year, areas where they left a lot of big trees, but now a lot of those trees are down. Some of the worst was on state owned land - I'm puzzled why they didn't get back in already and get those...

Canadian Rockies High School Graduation Trip (pic heavy)

Looks like a great trip. Makes me wonder why, since I live in NW Montana, that I haven't been to most of these places in the photos. Thanks for the post.

    World Cup 2026 starting today

I on the other hand have watched every match so far. I used to watch American "football" games a lot, especially when my sons played. Now I've returned to just watching soccer.

    World Cup 2026 starting today

It should be a great experience going to a game. Someone asked me a few days ago what team I wanted to win. I've been watching world cups since 1970, and the teams I want to win are always the same, Brazil, Argentina, and anyone who is playing England. 😀

Hunting Medium This Fall (Hunting Hard Pending)

A 62 year old friend had hip replacement last week of September last year. On November 1st I helped him pack an elk he shot out of the worst place I ever helped with an elk. He had help, but he was down in that really steep hole where you needed hiking poles, and to hold branches etc, just to...

Hunting Medium This Fall (Hunting Hard Pending)

I had total knee replacement on the 21st, so I'm at the 2 week point. My big issue so far is that I went 6 days without sleep. Not zero sleep, but about an hour a day, and never felt sleepy. Any issues with sleep?

How old is too old to apply for physical hunts?

I'll be 66 in September. I've always hiked a lot and hunted in areas far off the road. I'm not the same physically as I was at 55, or 45, or 35 etc, but pretty much do the same stuff, maybe a little smarter about the places I go. Up until a month ago, I had no real issues, just sore knees...

    MT- M/S/G results 26

I've spent hours studying the draw statistics, calculating spreadsheets, trying to figure out what my odds might be. My odds for the units that I've applied in are approximately twice what they would be on the squared system, than they are on straight bonus points, and way way higher than if...

    MT- M/S/G results 26

Interesting spreadsheet. Thank goodness the number of people applying doesn't increase by 20% per year.

    MT- M/S/G results 26

Looks like you are a non resident, so in your case, maybe the squared system of bonus points doesn't change your odds much, but for residents it does. Unlike most things discussed here, math is not a matter of opinion - the squared system rewards those who have been in the game longer...

    MT- M/S/G results 26

I agree that it is the best system. It rewards the people who live in Montana for many years and keep applying. The fact that it's squared definitely helps the odds for those with the most points. It would help my odds by doing many things like making the upfront cost higher, making it that...

    MT- M/S/G results 26

I don't think the money up front thing would make much difference today. The cost of a moose license in 1990 was $50, which is the equivalent of slightly over $125 today so upfronting $125 per license should have about the same effect as the $50 did in 1990. The number of moose licenses...

    MT- M/S/G results 26

That is a big part of the problem. In 1990 they gave out 55 moose licenses in unit 323, this year it's 10.
