I was surprised, in a good way, to have drawn my first choice this year. I have 0 points and the SW unit I applied for as first choice didn’t have great odds. Me and my brother in law both drew our tags in the same units, excited for my first real elk hunt this September.
This is only my second time putting in for the draw in Colorado, and first since 2021. Seems like folks are seeing moose and bear results, not elk yet. Is that normal? Elk comes after those? Good luck to everyone that draws a tag this year!
Yes, I’m a flat lander but I hike all I can with a weighted pack on. Focusing primarily on core strength and cardio. I am Open to advice or tips on ways to be better prepared physically though.
Thanks for the replies, and sorry I didn’t include more info in regular post. I’ll be hunting archery seasons and most scouting will be e-scouting. I hadn’t heard of the cow tag option in Wyoming, I’ll definitely look into that next year.
