    not a bear, but a charging moose with my .44 Killed 2 blackies at close range with my SKS... the black bears here don't get very big, but every one I've shot or known anyone else shoot.. they give up the fight pretty easy once they have been hit....

I tell people the same thing about moving to AK... there are a lot of area's that are best avoided (lower caswell sub division for one).. there are roads you just don't want to go down..     I've never seen rougher ground to travel than Alaska.... (maybe central america). I haven't seen it all.. but it can be pretty brutal.... tundra or not.... rule of thumb..     They are much like the Anaconda, but with the interchangeable barrel system.. they are large but have a really great grip system... I've got a number of old, old colts.. but none of the newer stuff.... so far....
